Nano Update

Happy Saturday to you all

I hope you are all having a nice and relaxed weekend. Weekend for me was a bit hectic and tons of work to do, but I also was able to sleep and I love sleeping 😀

So… Nano is here and week one is gone (hehe). So far I had only 3 days of truly giving it all and write, while on the other days I just couldn’t.

Days 1+2  I wrote a bit more than 5K which was amazing and I felt good.

Day 3  I wrote less, but still managed to write over 3K.

Day 4  I didn’t write at all, not a single word. I was with my mom and hubby got sick and even I didn’t feel at my best.

Days 5+6  These days were still hectic and even more than usual, but I still was able to write here and there and was able to write the words I needed to be at the 10K mark. I even was able to go over it a bit 😀

Day 7  Not a single word, lol. I haven’t been writing all day as most of the day went to cleaning, organizing, washing, and cooking.

So far I am only a bit behind in my word count, 10,285/11,667 but I do hope to catch up on my word count this week and if I’m lucky enough reach my goal. If you are doing Nano I hope all is going great with your word count and to you all, I hope you are having a wonderful and relaxed weekend 😀

As always, thank you so much for reading ❤

Weekly Round Up {Coffee n’ Notes}

Happy Sunday to you all

I hope you had a lovely weekend so far and for those who celebrated Halloween, I hope the sugar rush wasn’t too bad and you are enjoying the day after 😉

For me it was an eventful weekend: watching 4 hours of a Twitch show (from geek and Sundry) called Critical Role (hubby and I looove this show), then we gamed in the Halloween maze and entered the new maps and events. All of these mixed with tons of sleep and yummy food, made this weekend a good one ❤

Now, as the weekend ended and Nano has already started, it’s time to get back to work and write, write, write! And for those who are still enjoying their weekend, here is a little recap of this week on Coffee n’ Notes…

Blog Party

Yesterday at Halloween, I held my first ever Blog Party or as many bloggers call it, Link Party ❤ It was such a fun way to see people’s posts and I got to follow a few new ones (Loved it). To all that been to my party, thank you so much and if you missed it, there is always next time 😉

Friday Musing

As always, on Fridays, I post my Friday Musing and this time I rambled on all the new and exciting things that happened to me that week. Here I rambled this time on the new expansion of the game I love the most and more.

My NaNoWriMo Prep

I love Nano so much and each year I try to do Nano, last year I couldn’t finish it due to my mom being in the hospital a few time that November. This year I plan to win and even go higher than the normal word count of 50K. So if you just starting out with Nano or just want to try new things to prepare yourself for the amazing madness of NaNoWriMo, you can find here how I prep for this craziness of writing an entire novel in one month

The Liebster Award

I was nominated for this award a while back by the lovely Karen from Shade But No Shade blog. I had so much fun answering her questions and posting this award, thank you again, Karen ❤

That is all for this Weekly Round-Up, you guys are always seem to make me smile and I hope you are all having a wonderful Sunday and a great weekend. If you are doing Nano, good luck with the writing 🙂

As always… Thank you so much for reading ❤

My NaNoWriMo Prep

Nano is only a few days away, OMG! 😀

I saw these kinds of posts everywhere and I thought: Why not share my Nano prep with you as well. Each Nano is very different from the next and it all depends if I have a plan or not (in most cases, I have a plan).

This year, as I wrote in the post a week ago: Writing Update & Plans, I am planning to write the second book in my “The Earth Legacy” Series. I outlined the book (well… most of it anyway, lol) and now waiting for Nano to start 🙂

So… How do I prepare for Nano? Here are my top 6 steps:

Find that spark:

I have a spark of an idea and I think of it. I start asking questions about the plot and the characters. Then the real work begins! I start writing notes, tons of notes… On my notebook, my phone, on my laptop and even a lot of little-colored post-its all over my desk.

I love to outline my novel as much as I can. I just use keywords or short sentences about each major scene. You really want to have some sort of plan as it’s going to be a very fast writing and you do not have time for writer’s block 😀

Open your Planner:

Start thinking of all your other duties and hobbies like family, friends, gaming ((crying)) and house chores and think of how to fit some of them in with Nano month. The best thing that helps me is to write in my planner the entire month of all my Nano word count goals put the hours I need to write those words under each day. You will have to put aside a few things, like friends, gaming ((still crying about that), trips to town to do some shopping and just stay committed to your writing.

To blog or Not to blog:

If you are a fellow blogger like me and you do choose to blog while doing Nano, write a few posts  in advance or at least write some notes of each future posts, so when it comes to write your posts, you will not have a writer’s block and it will not keep you away from your writing for too long 😉

Stock up:

Stock up on some chocolates, candy, yummy tea and coffee. You will barely sleep, as you are going to write in each free second you have. You have 50,000 words to write or if you are like me you have double that amount, lol (yep! crazy). Writing so fast and so much will drain you fast. Coffee or tea will become your friends and chocolate and candy will become your best friends 😀

Say goodbye to your sanity! I am not joking. You will dream of words, characters will jump into your daily life, Bunnies will try to put holes in your plot, lol, but most importantly, writing this many words in 1 month is beyond crazy… You must love it to go for it 😀

If you are like me, you’re just crazy enough to give it a go and enjoy the craziness 😀

Are you doing Nano this year? How do you prepare for it? Don’t be shy and share some your best tips (I know you have them) 😀

As always, thank you so much for reading ❤

Mini Update

To all my readers hello, I am back 😉

I hope you had a great weekend, a wonderful Valentine and I hope you are all having an awesome Sunday ❤

How cute is that cup in the picture? I want one ❤

Sorry, I was away for most of the week, I just couldn’t really bring myself to write or post. Last week was full of challenges, to say the least. It started with a huge sandstorm that almost got me to the E.R and ended with a tree falling on our car from the storm.

So I thought after a week away I will do a mini update.

Our car

Our car will be fixed by the insurance company, although we do need to add more money for the fixing. It’s annoying, but at least we will have our car back. That makes me very happy… 🙂

Valentine’s Day

Well, I can tell you that we didn’t do anything on Valentine’s Day. We were both watching TV, playing Gw2 and eating tons of junk food 😀 But it was a good rest and we needed it.

I wrote only 2000-2500 words last week, so… nothing, lol.

I did get some scenes written that were inspired by the sandstorm and the tree falling on our car, lol, so I guess some good came out of these horrible events.

I finally bought some Kindle versions of the books I wanted to read.

The Maze Runner

The Maze Runner

Throne of Glass

Akarnae (The Medoran Chronicles 1) by the lovely Lynette Noni

I have also bought 2 books from Book Depository. Can’t wait for them to arrive 🙂

My Plan

Well, my plan for this week is to write as much as I can, read as much as I can and post again 🙂

I’ve missed you all so much and I want to thank you all for helping me and calming me down, you are all so wonderful and I can’t tell you just how much I appreciate your encouragements and love.

What are your plans for this week?

Thank you so much for reading ❤

Quick Update ;)

Hello to all my lovely readers,

I wanted to write a quick share, just to let you know what’s going on with me and what I’ve learned throughout this month.

NanoWrimo & Writing: Failed NanoWrimo.

I wrote 35K/50K, too much life events this month, but I did gain a wonderful story that I will continue on writing. I’m a bit sad that Nano is over (even if I haven’t written much), I will miss most of all the community of writers and all the sprints. I entered this Nano year without a plan, for the first time, and I am happy that I did so.

This story is so different from all the other stories I wrote, in a good way. I know it may sound weird what I am about to say, but in a way I am happy of how things turned up. Even though I didn’t win Nano, I got a new world, new characters and I know that this story needs to be written 😉 I am planning to continue the story in mid december, in hopes to finish it by February.

Reading: I miss reading. I want to read 2 book this months (I know it’s not a lot, but hey… too much to do). I want to finish reading Ready Player One by Ernest Cline and the last book in The Rain Wild Chronicles, Blood of Dragons by Robin Hobb. I am very excited by both books.

Gaming: I have really neglected my gaming this past month, so I am planning on major gaming time, lol.

Time management: I learned a lot this month about time management as well. I am not a morning person (to say the least, lol) but I started to wake up early. even if I don’t have nothing to do that day, I still wake up relatively early and from that moment I have a better idea of how to organize my time and put the writing in the top of my to-do list. For me… This is a huge deal.

Projects: I have some projects in mind, that I really want to see if I can do them (maybe later I will share them with you as well).

What have you learned this month? Don’t be shy and share your thoughts 🙂

Thank you so much for reading ❤

Fight The Urge…

Click to see where this picture came from 🙂

I don’t know if you ever had this feeling, but today I felt it… more than ever.

Let me take you back a bit.

Today I was writing a bit (didn’t had much time), and I got stuck. One of my characters suddenly didn’t fit in the scene I was writing, and no matter how much rewrites I did… Still nothing!

The urge to kill this character was stronger than ever, just to take it out will make my life easier. So I started to imagine the story without this character, and how everything will fall into the right place, but you know what? As much as I saw the story without this character, I finally knew just how important it was to keep this character.

The character suddenly grew even stronger in my head, and like roots, her personality spread through the story and I saw how much she is valid to how my main character will continue on, and I knew I could never take this character out.

After this insight, I wrote so fast that i manged to write 3K 🙂

Now I’m at: 29K/50K

So… my advice to all writers that struggle with a scene or a character, just take a few moments and see how the story will continue without him or her, fight the urge to take this character out of your story. Sometime you will find that this character can be killed, after all not all personalities can fit with your main character, but sometimes you’ll find how important this character really is, to the story.

For me, it was a real surprise LOL

Little update: To those who follow me on twitter may have read about last night, but if not… I just want to share this you:

Yesterday I was with my mom in the hospital untill 22:30 at night. They discharged her from the E.R and I took her home and drove home… But while we were there, they did some tests and in the first room we were my mom fainted from the pain and was Unconscious for a few minutes – to me it seemed like forever. It was very scary 😦 Luckily she woke up and they found out it was an inflammation. Yesterday was really scary for me… and as a writer (I can’t stop my mind from writing, lol) I ended up putting some of the scary parts that happened and some of my fears and her pain in words, and into some of the scenes.

Just wanted to share this with you ❤

Another small update: It’s raining here, for a few days now… And… I love it, lol.

Have a great Sunday, and thank you so much for reading ❤

Quick Update

Found this picture on-line and it reminded me of my life right now, as I struggle for some time to write.

Trying to juggle my life and writing is getting harder as each day passes by.

The people around me want even more of my attention and my help, leaving me no time for writing. If I do have some spare time, I feel too tired to even think about sitting down and writing.

I should have been at 10K words by now… 😦 But I am still at 4.5k.

Usually when I don’t write for this long and I have a story that I’ve started writing, the story starts to fade, but this time the story keeps growing and building in my head… So I think it means good things about the writing 😉

This is new to me, still being able to see my characters and how they walk in their world, so even if I don’t have the time right now to write (even if it’s Nano), I still enjoy the strong connection I have to this story.

With all that being said, I’m not giving up on Nano and will still try to put those words and ideas down, with a hope to win Nano.

Have a great day & thank you for reading

Just wanted to share with you something i found.

Today I found my theme song for my NanoWrimo novel, I am so happy.

This song helps me tap into my novel’s world, my characters and it gets me all happy to write… Yey 🙂

That’s all for now, enjoy the song and have a great day

All You Need Are Words

Title… check.

Characters… check.

World… check.

What I need now? Oh yeah… words.

I started to write a story for NaNoWriMo. A story that slowly becomes very weird and unusual with many different elements, but for some reason they all fit together, lol.

It is a Fantasy, Sci/Fi, and Dystopian story… yep, lol, You can laugh if you want to, I know I did… a lot, lol.

When the story started coming into my dreams, forcing its way to be written, I became very attached to the story and to the characters and I saw some potential in it. I started jotting the story down, slowly something that I laughed about before becoming a story worthy to be written about (Well for Nano anyway, lol).

This free writing brought back the joy of writing (I love Nano for that, so much), there is no time to think, no time to edit, just to write. I love building a new world, as it slowly shows itself to me. I love how the characters start to speak to me through my dreams and play with my thoughts. I think that’s what I love most about writing.

The freedom of just writing without thinking so much, just letting whatever in my heart and mind go free on paper as if the words were butterflies flying around me. I love the rush and the high I get when the story just pours out so fast that I can barely keep up or when the characters stop me from taking a wrong turn in the story.

I know that to some of you it may sound crazy, But I guess I am.

Sorry for getting sidetracked… I’m back, Back to the Nano story, lol.

My title for the story is Project Zero, and at first, it was a working title, just a weird name that appeared in my dream, but now I know that Project Zero is the right title for this story and it was a good start to see what the story was about 🙂

So far I wrote about 2500 words into the story, but I think it’s more of an intro to the story, but as I said before… no editing, so I don’t know yet. I will just keep on writing from the last sentence I wrote and go on from there.

For now, I am not going to write an outline and just leave the story to unfold by itself as I continue to write, but I know that at some point (maybe when Nano actually starts) I will write a quick outline, just to keep me on the right track… Maybe 😉

Have fun writing & thank you for reading ❤

NanoWrimo Is Almost Here

Blog2The excitement is in the air…

I can feel the love for writing spreading and I can feel the fear and the craziness starting to sneak in… How fun this is?

This fun and craziness can be overwhelming for old & new NanoWrimos, so I gathered some tips that I love which helped me with my writing in general, but more so in Nano.

  • Planning ahead and having an outline:

If Nano starts but you find yourself (like me, lol) without an outline or any idea what to write, don’t worry. Take a deep breath and just write whatever comes to mind (even if it sounds stupid). As you write, a story will unfold and the writing will become easier as you go on.

  • Stat writing fast:

You need to achieve 1667 words a day, so don’t edit… Not even the misspelled words, lol, Just write and write without looking back. It’s hard (I know) but worth it. I even try to get ahead in my word count as much as I can in the first week, so if something happens and I can’t write, I am still up on my word count (yey).

  • Learn to say No!

No! I can’t come.

No! I can’t help.

No! I have no time.

No! I am writing (still learning this, lol).

  • Get help:

I love to do the “word races” in NaNoWriMo. Set an alarm for 5, 10 or 15 minutes and write as much as you can, as fast as you can. There are many word races on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and the NaNoWriMo forums. You can use online writing prompts and apps that are for android as well as for apple.

  • Know the end for your next line:

I love to end my writing for that day with some knowledge of how I will continue the next day. Write it down, so the next day you are basically not starting an idea from scratch, but already have some idea of how your story will go on.

  • Enjoy the community:

Once a year all the writers come out from their solitude and join together for one crazy celebration, and for one goal, which is to write. This is the time to use the community for feedback, help and their input on your writing (If you choose to share). I love the community so much and I miss it a lot after NaNoWriMo.

  • Finish!

Fight. Claw. Write down every word. I like the story to be something good, as much as I can while writing this fast, so even if I write fast I try my hardest to write well (story wise… not grammar and such, lol). The reward for finishing and getting 50K down on paper… Is more than I can ever express.

  • Have fun writing.

Enjoy the process of writing. If this is your first time don’t worry… even if you are way behind… this is a crazy month and at some point, you can catch up on your word count, and if not… hey, you tried something that a lot will never want to try. No matter what, I assure you, that you will learn a lot about your writing, the people around you and most of all about yourself and how you deal with stress.

So… how many of you are joining me in the fun of NaNoWriMo?

Thank you for reading this ❤
