It’s almost weekend! Hello everyone, hope you are all having a good day and you are ready for the weekend ❤
Writer’s long, today I was starting to feel better finally, and it gave the energy to something around the house. I woke up at 7 am looked at the clock and went straight back to sleep until noon and it felt so good to sleep that late, hehe. After taking my meds and some Camomile tea, I started organizing our kitchen cabinets and changed things a bit.
It feels much better now and I felt strong enough to tackle the mountain of dishes. I haven’t written anything today and that’s okay because I was creative with some planning and doodling. I’ve read from my Writer magazine, highlighted a few things that inspired me. The only thing that I am a bit sad about is that I haven’t written my dream in my journal… I had such a great dream and I remember the good feeling of it and I regret not writing it done.
From tomorrow we are entering a holiday here in Israel, called Passover. Tomorrow is the Eve of Passover and we are going to celebrate the holiday at my husband’s parents so I will not be at home at all almost all day so there won’t be any post tomorrow. Btw, this will be my first vegan Passover in years, this will be so weird for me, but I know I will have lots of yummy things to eat 😀
Today was the first time in a long while that I managed to do 30 minutes meditating and it was so calming and energizing, I love the high after that, lol.
My goals for the weekend are decluttering my makeup, I have too much and I almost ware none, haha and I want to keep decluttering the closet and maybe our bedroom as well 🙂
What are your plans for the weekend?
That is all for today’s post and I will see you again on Saturday.
Hey everyone, hope you are having a good Wednesday ❤
Writer’s log, Today is the third day posting and so far, it’s a bit challenging but I love it. Today, I went to my doctor and see what can be done with this illness and she told me that I am sick, lol and gave me more antibiotics. I am so sick of these meds, I think that’s enough 😀 Anyways, not going to take them that easy, I want to try some herbal options and see if I get better without more antibiotics.
Today I am writing to you about my recent inspiration that came from a new ebook I’ve read called Steal Like An Artist. This book doesn’t tell you a lot that you may not already know, but it tells it from another pov and that made the change. But in order to something truly stick you need to make it a habit of repeating the same things over and over until you are in control of that habit. For me, it was to read this book again and this time, I’ve highlighted different things (how cool is that) and it just sparked my imagination again. I would give it more than 5 stars on Goodreads if I could ❤ Should give it a go if you haven’t read it yet.
I also did some decluttering with the Konmari method of all my clothes and it felt amazing to let go of things that no longer have a purpose in my life. Sadly I still own tons of clothes, hehe so maybe in my next decluttering I will be able to let go of more items, but for now… I did okay 😀
I managed to meditate today for 25 minutes (the longest meditating I did recently) and it felt so good and energized me for the upcoming day.
I wrote a bit for Camp Nanowrimo (about 600 words) and I even though I feel worst than the morning, I am so happy I got to do these things today, as they keep me connected to what I want and where I want to be.
That is all for this post, overall it was a good day, hope your day was great and I will see you all tomorrow 🙂
You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life
Author: Jen Sincero Pages: 258 Genre: Self-Help Publication Date: April 23rd, 2013 Publisher: Running Press Adult
In this refreshingly entertaining how-to guide, #1 New York Times Bestselling Author and world-traveling success coach, Jen Sincero, serves up 27 bite-sized chapters full of hilariously inspiring stories, sage advice, easy exercises, and the occasional swear word. If you’re ready to make some serious changes around here, You Are a Badass will help you: Identify and change the self-sabotaging beliefs and behaviors that stop you from getting what you want, blast past your fears so you can take big exciting risks, figure out how to make some damn money already, learn to love yourself and others, set big goals and reach them – it will basically show you how to create a life you totally love, and how to create it now.
By the end of You Are a Badass, you’ll understand why you are how you are, how to love what you can’t change, how to change what you don’t love, and how to use The Force to kick some serious ass.
I usually don’t read self-help books, but I do try to read things outside my comfort zone and because we are getting closer to 2019, I needed every help I can get so after I heard so many good things about this book, I decided to buy it… And I am so happy I did.
This book didn’t have many original ideas, and the author told me things I probably already knew… However, it was still a nice reminder of what I need to do and sometimes it is nice to have a good reminder a push even if it comes out from a book.
As I try to surround myself with things that will be a constant reminder of what I want and how I want to achieve it, I loved reading this book because of that… A great reminder and sometimes if we know something we really don’t get it, lol. Some things just clicked really good in this book and I plan to read this book again in 2019 with fresh new eyes 😉
I mostly felt with all the things I highlighted that it was like a reminder post-it note or a smart cheat sheet for you to always pick into and plan your goals smarter and achieve them faster.
I got this book in an ebook and so I highlighted a few lines and paragraphs that I knew will stick with me for a while…
“If you’re serious about changing your life, you’ll find a way. If you’re not, you’ll find an excuse”.
“If you want to live a life you’ve never lived, you have to do things you’ve never done”.
This is beyond true and correct for me, and I just realized that while reading this book and since then… So much have changed and still is changing ❤
For me, this book was more like a push in the right direction, I needed it a lot 😀
Author: Raven Oak Pages: 441 Genre: Fantasy Publication Date: October 15th, 2016 Publisher: Grey Sun Press
Her name was Adelei.
She was a master in her field, one of the feared Order of Amaska. Those who were a danger to the Little Dozen Kingdoms wound up dead by her hand. The Order sends her deep into the Kingdom of Alexander, away from her home in Sadai, and into the hands of the Order’s enemy.
The job is nothing short of a suicide mission, one serving no king, no god, and certainly not Justice. With no holy order to protect her, she tumbles dagger-first into the Boahim Senate’s political schemes and finds that magic is very much alive and well in the Little Dozen Kingdoms.
While fighting to unravel the betrayal surrounding the royal family of Alexander, she finds her entire past is a lie, right down to those she called family. They say the truth depends on which side of the sword one stands. But they never said what to do when all the swords are pointing at you.
Amidst her enemies, in a land from the darkest reaches of her past, she must decide if she is to be more than another brainwashed puppet. No matter her choice, she must fight to do what is just and right to save the people of the Little Dozen.
Amaskan’s Blood is an exciting epic fantasy filled with amazing adventures and wonderful characters. Everything is well planned and there’re so much happening in this book.
Adelei is the main character and she is y far my favorite character. She is such a strong character but not the perfect type, she is flawed but amazing at the same time.
The author did an amazing job with the world building and even more so with the characters. Each character brings a new complexity and uniqueness to the story, even the villain was written amazingly that you are always having your doubts about him, how amazing is this author?
The work that the author had put into this detailed world is astonishing. The author put so many details to everything that you can easily see yourself in this world, walking alongside Adelei. The first third of the book was a bit slow to read and hard to get into but I am used to this in Fantasy. However, trust me when I say that the rest of the book is worth the waiting, this novel is full of action, politics and memorable characters.
Also check out again the amazing cover, wow ❤ I love the cover so much, by itself you can feel the story.
Lastly, I will say that the strong plot combined with the strong characters makes a unique and amazing story to read, and if you like Fantasy you will LOVE this book. I am lucky I already have the next book to read immediately (yay) 😀
Hey all, I saw the November Moodboard over at Aloma Writes, and I knew I just had to do this ❤ I asked her if I could do this post and she kindly said yes (yay me ).
If you don’t know who is Ashleigh or her gorgeous blog, go check it out and don’t forget to say hello:D She is such a kind and sweet person and her blog is so pretty and fun, I know you’ll love her posts.
November reminds me of rain, a good book and yummy hot drinks (mostly coffee and spiced teas, hehe). My favorite colors in autumn are brown and pastel colors ❤ And I will hang twinkly lights everywhere (already started on that) 😀
My mood has changed completely, lol. My goal is to be more relaxed and not feel so overstressed as I do on most days. I’m drawn to tarot cards such as the Medicine animal and the Animal spirits, even my mood in music changed and I am more into chill music and rain sounds 😉 ❤
NaNoWriMo is less than a month away and October is the month to start writing again or just give yourself a boost of motivation to continue your on-going project. I am (still) in my editing phase so I will continue on with my own writing project in hopes to finally put a serious dent in my edits.
If you don’t know what NaNoWriMo is, then let me explain it to you… Nanowrimo is National Novel Writing Month that comes every year on November. In this nano month, you will try to write 50K in one month 😀 If you’re gasping of shock right now and thinking that it’s way too hard, then let me tell you that it is hard and it is madness, but that’s the entire fun of this. The point is to write and not think of what your novel will look like (that’s editing for).
Here is my checklist, that helps me stay on track with my writing through Nanowrimo and preparing for it
Know what you gonna write about
Use this month to know what you’re going to write about. Try imagining your world, your characters, the theme of the entire plot. At first, it’s okay to write just a name, a place or a sentence of the plot. The more you write whatever comes to your mind the more good ideas will flow out and spark your Imagination and let it run wild.
I said this a lot but it’s true, outlining your novel truly helps, especially after the midpoint of your novel. So… Outline your nano novel as much as you can. My outline is about 40 pages and in many times more than 60 pages long (lol, wow… I need help). So do as much outlining as you can this month until you know all the characters, places, plots, and even some subplots 😉
Don’t be lazy and do the work. Research about places, or people.
Listen to some conversation near you, hehe (I know it sounds weird and intrusive but it helps a lot) then, write down some key notes about what stood out in your eyes.
If your book is more on the sci/fi or Fantasy research about that subject, and try to create as many details as you can because when Nanowrimo arrive you will not have any time to do all this and you will have a much easier time writing down almost 2K a day, every day.
Go now to nano site and connect with other writers. you can find groups in your local area or just add writing buddies to help you be more motivated throughout the month, and do some sprints with them.
Take a break
In the week before nano or even just a couple of days before, take a break and enjoy your freedom, it will be your last chance for some free time for 30 days, hehe 😀
Embrace the madness
Don’t think of how it will turn out, no one has to see it. Enjoy the community and the madness of writing sprints with other writers and race towards your goal of writing 50,000 words a month. Ready to have some fun?
This what I do every year, and it helps me get on track when I feel stuck or just have fun and write with other writers out there, so I hope it will help you too.
After all, as writers we mostly tend to do our craft alone and once in a year it’s so much fun to just embrace the madness of Nano and enjoy the wonderful community ❤ Btw, I’ve made this for NaNoWriMo last year, to put on my phone and on my Instagram and other social media, feel free to download it and use it 😀
I am thrilled to say that I have outlined the major events in Book Two in the series – The Curse of Time. So, if you haven’t read The Curse of Time Book One Bloodstone now’s the time to do so!
During this process, I stumbled upon a plot development idea that shocked me. I’d started writing the bare bones of the ending of book two and then POW it hit me. I can’t divulge what my idea is for fear of spoiling it for you, but I can say that it will take the story on an unexpected pathway into a potential book three.
This Kapow aspect of writing excites, empowers and intrigues me.
During the creative process of writing The Curse of Time Book One Bloodstone, I didn’t plot much at all. I wrote from a reservoir of my imagination. I had to restructure a lot, but this meant that TCOT is a highly imaginative concept.
My reviewers have been saying lots of wonderful things about TCOT.
Here are just a couple of review quote snippets:
‘This is a brilliant book for young adults interested in magic, supernatural, paranormal, fantasy and myth. I found it highly readable and the author’s imagination is phenomenal, as is the fluency of her language and the dazzling way she describes the curious events and characters in her story. I loved the idea of Esme, the girl trapped in the mirror.’
S C Skillman, author
‘The curse of time is a beautifully written book. I really enjoyed M.J. Mallon’s style of writing and the beautiful characters she created. Even though aimed at the YA audience I enjoyed it and found myself totally engrossed.
The story is almost dreamlike, very addictive and quirky. I loved all the references to crystals and the magical element. I was keen to find out the mystery linked to Amelina’s Dad’s disappearance and eventual reappearance. This is such a mixing pot of delights, you have gorgeous poetry scattered throughout, a girl stuck in a mirror and a magically enchanted paint set and this is the tip of the iceberg!’ Lisa, Book Addiction UK.
One of my subsidiary characters became far more important. In fact, she became one of my favourite characters.
Imaginative Developments: Mental Health and Entrapment
I had an idea to write about a girl trapped in a mirror and Esme became that girl. I realized she needed to be more interesting and defined. I struggled with this for some time. Then, during the writing process, I had a Eureka moment – I decided to link the mirror girl Esme’s imprisonment to mental health.
Mental Health is a form of entrapment. A person who is suffering from mental health problems isn’t free. They are unable to live life to the full as fear anxiety, depression and mental health issues hold them back. Esme is that person. She is a prisoner in the mirrors of Amelina’s house and she is also imprisoned by her mental health issues. Esme is a victim of a curse but prior to her imprisonment, she had also been stuck in a vicious circle of self-harm.
Esme became the character I longed for – a character with huge potential for truth, hope, and discussion. I now have so many ways to portray her and…
The reader will be able to see her journey throughout the series.
Will Esme recover from her self-harm?
Will she escape the imprisonment of the curse?
Will I be able to help Esme feel good about herself?
Esme’s character will allow an open and frank discussion on the crucially important topic of mental health/self-harm/depression/anxiety which matters so much to me.
Esme also features in book two, with an emphasis on recovery and hope along with all the original cast of book one.
Imaginative Developments: Crystals
Wow, I just love them. I have a lovely collection at home. So it’s no surprise that there’s a magical crystal cottage in The Curse of Time. But, this haven of beauty, light, and magic isn’t open to everyone. No way! It’s strictly by invitation only. My main protagonist, fifteen-year-old Amelina Scott is allowed to visit but will Ryder creep in? Wait and see… There will be some amazing developments with regard to the cottage in Book Two. Expect twin doors…
Imaginative Developments: Tattoos and Art
Tattoos. This is hysterical. What can you do with tattoos in a fantasy novel? Perhaps you can cover your villain with them. Hey, maybe you can bring those tattoos alive, and link those black tattoos to shadows. Perhaps you can take this further and make them smoking hot! Interesting… Now, how cool is that?
Just imagine what fun I can have with tattoos in future books… Oh my!
(I have a thing about bringing art alive and this is also portrayed in the Creature of The Cottage.)
Imaginative Developments: Clocks and Rollercoasters
There are three wonderful Chronopage clock creations invented by Dr. John C Taylor, OBE http://www.johnctaylor.com/who I had the pleasure of meeting in September 2017.
The magnificent grasshopper lives in King’s Parade in Cambridge, and features in Book One. The midsummer Chronopage showcases a mythological fly and the dragon Chronopage is, of course, a dragon. Look at that pearl on the dragon’s tongue! I can’t wait to write about the mythological fly and the dragon in the next two books in the series.
In the meantime, I have plans for the grasshopper to come alive and get up to a bunch of mischief in Book Two.
Aren’t they stunning?
And … there will be an epic rollercoaster in Book Two and some riddles…
If you like fantasy, adore Dr. Who (like I do,) I hope you will give The Curse of Time a try.
Yesterday was a crazy busy day with my mom. We went to Jerusalem, in order to grab some meds for my mom and after over 13 hours out and most of it in a car, I came home exhausted. it’s been a long time since I was this dead tired.
Anyways… I saw this great book tag over at Chanelle and I had to do this cute tag 🙂 If you don’t know who is Chanelle or her amazing blog chanelleheley go visit her blog and say hello, she would love that. Her blog is about beauty, life, books and so much more. I get inspired everytime I pop my head over her blog and I am sure you will too ❤
Now, onto the tag:
Bookmarks or random pieces of papers?
Well, I am more of a bookmark kinda of a girl but I will use random paper or anything if I need to. however, I will also write a note on my phone which page I am in and not use bookmarks at all 😉
Stop reading randomly or after a chapter/certain amount of pages?
I love stopping after I hit a new chapter but if I am tired I will stop after the end of a paragraph or if the sentence end at the end of the page I will stop there.
Do you have a certain place at home for reading?
Not really, but I do most of my reading on the couch, so maybe I do 😀
Do you eat or drink whilst reading?
In most cases no, I am too afraid to spill something on the book, but sometimes I will drink something, and when I do I will put the book far from me and then have a sip of my drink and get back to my reading. I will never eat though whilst reading.
Multitasking: Music or TV when reading?
Nope. I don’t mind when my Ralfi (my husband) is watching TV but I love to read the book in quiet.
One book at a time or several?
Okay, this one is a bit hard. In most cases, I love reading one book at a time. However, sometimes I’m in a mood where I can’t read just one book, lol. Like the last two months, I’ve read 3 books all at the same times, hehe. This month, I can’t even think of doing that.
Reading at home or everywhere?
I read a lot of Ebooks while my mom was in the hospital through an app on my phone, but I love reading at home and feel comfortable.
Reading out loud or silently?
LOL, there are parts of the book where it has a more fast dialog or fights, I love reading out loud but in most cases, I love reading in silence. I don’t listen to many audiobooks, I guess that really shows that I love reading the book on my own and silently 🙂
Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?
OMG, NOOOO! It even hurts to write the question, lol. I hate breaking the spine. 99.9% of my books look new even though I read them a lot of them more than 6-30 times, hehe. All my books are paperbacks and there are a few books that I broke the spine and it hurt seeing them there, so I try to never do that (yeah I know, I sound crazy, hehe).
Do you write in your books?
OMG! What a monster thought of these cruel questions, the horror, lol. Nope. Never.
That is all for this tag 😀
To all the BookDragons or BookUnicorns out there, feel free to grab this tag and consider yourself tagged. If you feel like answering one or more Questions from the tag I would love to see your answers in the comments below 🙂
BTW, I did a similar tag to this also called: The Reading Habits Tag 3 years ago, feel free to give it a look ❤
Author: Lynette Noni Pages: 404 pages Genre: YA, Fantasy Publication Date: April 1st, 2017 Publisher: Pantera Press
“I swear by the stars that you and the others slain tonight will be the first of many. Of that, you have my word.”
With Aven Dalmarta now hiding in the shadows of Meya, Alex is desperate to save Jordan and keep the Rebel Prince from taking more lives.
Training day and night to master the enhanced immortal blood in her veins, Alex undertakes a dangerous Meyarin warrior trial that separates her from those she loves and leaves her stranded in a place where nothing is as it should be.
As friends become enemies and enemies become friends, Alex must decide who to trust as powerful new allies—and adversaries—push her towards a future of either light… or darkness.
One way or another, the world will change…
Before I’ll start I will just say that I loved Akarnae and Raelia so much, that I really was looking forward to reading Draekora 😀
Draekora is the third book in the Medoran Chronicles. I will keep this review short as it’s so hard to review this book without spoilers (I’ve tried, lol).
The book started with tons of action, sweeping you immediately to a new place with new characters, full of danger. From the start, Alex and her gang are trying to find out if Jordan’s brother was alive or not. Alex goes to Meya to train and learn more about her abilities. There, she has one of the best adventures in this book 😀 And I think the author only gets better and better with each book she writes.
There are a lot of new characters that we meet in this book, but you are drawn to them from the start. I love that we got to see more of Medora and even though this book has a more serious tone to it, we still experience the fun and excitement that we loved so much in the previous books. Draekora is by far the best book in this series (so far) ❤
You really get involved with the characters and the author did a wonderful job with them, you can’t help yourself but fall in love with them. I did miss the old gang a lot but it didn’t make the story any less enjoyable to read. Alex has to go through so much that with each dangerous event you keep asking yourself how will she ever get out of this situation. I won’t say much of the other characters as it will definitely spoil things for you, but I will say that the Draekon character is such a great addition to the story, I loved it.
The villain also is well thought of and you really love to hate him, the author did an amazing work with him, omg.
The ending of this book… Omg. I can’t really say much here but let me say that I couldn’t stop crying, and I so happy that I have the next book to read immediately. At the end of this book, things get even more crazy and dangerous and we know that war is coming and as I said I am happy I already have Gravale (book #4) because I must know what will happen next with Alex and her gang.
This book has everything you want in a great book. You got dangerous adventures, friendships, time travel, dragons, magic, and love. How can you not love this book ❤
P.S: The cover is gorgeous and I would truly love if I could visit Draekora.
Author: Jenna Moreci Pages: 534 pages Genre: Fantasy Romance Publication Date: April 24th, 2018 Publisher: Jenna Moreci
Tobias Kaya doesn’t care about The Savior. He doesn’t care that She’s the Ruler of the realm or that She purified the land, and he certainly doesn’t care that She’s of age to be married. But when competing for Her hand proves to be his last chance to save his family, he’s forced to make The Savior his priority.
Now Tobias is thrown into the Sovereign’s Tournament with nineteen other men, and each of them is fighting—and killing—for the chance to rule at The Savior’s side. Instantly his world is plagued with violence, treachery, and manipulation, revealing the hidden ugliness of his proud realm. And when his circumstances seem especially dire, he stumbles into an unexpected romance, one that opens him up to unimaginable dangers and darkness.
Wow, this book has so many twists and turns, I loved it. Jenna Moreci did a wonderful job with this book ❤
The savior Champion is written in a third person from Tobias POV. Every year there’s a tournament where the winner gets to be the suitor for the Savior.
Tobias, enters the Savior’s Tournament with only one goal in mind, to save his family. In this book, there’s dangers, action, and romance. All make a wonderful and fast-paced story to read, but I will say that it is an adult fantasy book and so it has a lot of more adult content in it, so keep that in mind 🙂
I loved the characters in this book a lot and even though I saw some of the characters on the author’s Instagram teases, it still felt as though I knew them for the first time.
The characters in TSC were well developed and you good easily see them in my mind. I loved that even the strong characters had their flaws, which only made the story feel more real to me and the evil character is written masterfully – I love evil characters a lot, hehe 😀
The Savior and her sisters were written so well and Leila is an amazing addition to the story and is one of my favorite.
The world building here was extremely well thought of and it shows on paper (well in my case in the ebook, hehe). Tobias’s world, Thessen felt so real and even though it’s a very dangerous world to live in, it’s also a beautiful one.
As I said before, the pacing of this book is fast and the fight scenes (gorry as they are) are written well, there wasn’t a dull moment. This is not a short book and I still read it in just a few days 😀
This is a Fantasy Romance so… Of course, there will be a romance story here. I was happy to discover that the romance parts are written beautifully and the relationship was made to be of healthy adults and that made this book even a better one to read.
The only thing reason I gave the book, 4.5 stars and not 5 were two small things:
1. The names were a bit confusing to follow and in some parts of the story, I didn’t know which character is talking to who.
2. The Tournament is in a labyrinth, but it didn’t feel is a labyrinth but more of an arena. I just couldn’t picture it.
Final thoughts: If you like magic, romance, humor, and lots of action, all in an amazing package, this book is for you 🙂 I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
Don’t forget to pre-order it now – You have a few hours until the release 😀
