Getting Things Done

Happy Weekend to you all ❤

Wow, June had arrived fast and in 3 days I am celebrating my birthday 😀

I have about 10 goals for this month, some of which are from last month. Btw, I am not going to do the June – JuNoWriMo this year (just in case you are wondering, I just don’t have the time, but I will be doing some major writing and editing this month and the next few months.

  1. Write 15,000 – 20K words this month.
  2. Edit 30 pages.
  3. Organize my writing notes.
  4. Scan a few of my mom’s medical papers – I really need to get this started.
  5. Deep clean my kitchen and living room.
  6. Organize my own medical papers.
  7. Build a Patreon Page – Already done, yay me. Don’t forget to visit it 😀 ✔
  8.  Schedule at least 2 weeks of posts in advance – Have done 😉
  9. Work more on my social media, especially on Insta and Twitter.
  10. Play more games with my husband on the weekends.
  11. I want to push myself outside my comfort zone and I wrote a few ways I can do it and even started a few.
  12. Read 3 books ❤

These are my goals for June, I really want to achieve them and not postpone them for the next month. I am planning to push myself harder and get things done as much as I can.

What are some of your goals for this month?

As always, thank you so much for reading ❤

Part Of The Changes: Building a career

Hello, everyone and happy Saturday to you all

Recently I’ve been doing a few changes in my home, my work and here as well. This is not an easy decision for me but I want to take control over my career and push myself harder and do better with my writing. So I want to bring a better content, and due to never stopping budget issues, I’ve decided to make a Patreon Page (finally) 😀

So what is Patreon?

Patreon is a platform that lets people support writers and other content creators by becoming a patron. In simple word, people who want to support give money and I write stories, posts, books, and hold wonderful giveaways. I will share inside scoops from my WIP and other projects that will not show anywhere else 😉

And for those special patrons, I will even have 1 on 1 talk (wow). This makes me both scared to death and excited at the same time, lol, omg. But it’s time to push myself harder even with my anxiety about being out there more and communicated more with other humans, lol.

What will my patrons get?

By becoming my patron people will gain an exclusive excess to amazing rewards both weekly and monthly ❤ Go look around and see what key would you wish to find 🙂

Thank you so much for checking out my Patreon Page, whether you become a patron or not, your support means the world to me.

So what do you say?

Want to take a ride on a magical unicorn? Visit the gorgeous hidden library? Find the mysterious keys and get some exclusive rewards?

So Join now and become part of my community, become part of my writing journey and together we will write amazing books ❤

Patreon2

See you there.

A Little Life Update

Hello everyone, and happy Friday to you all ❤

Today I wanted to share with you a little bit of what happened to me these past couples of weeks and just give you an overall of this month 😀

Mom

The last two weeks, were a bit overwhelming and exhausting as my mom was very ill and we’ve been to three hospitals overall. They have done the Bronchoscopy which was very hard on my mom’s body and she is still feeling the pain from the procedure and the overwhelming fatigue. My mom needs more rest before we are back to doctors and more hospitals. We are all very tired and exhausted, lol, and I can’t keep myself awake for very long in the evenings 😀

Home

My home is in somewhat good shape, even though it was very cluttered recently, I cleaned and organized everything today 🙂
I still need a few days to do our huge 3 bookshelves as they are all a bit dusty, but not this week.

Writing/Editing

In my editing, I can happily say that I’ve made a bit of progress, not as much as I wished to, but some progress is good progress 😀 On the other hand in my writing, I didn’t make much progress, not as much as I wanted at least.

Blog

Wow, here I am happy that this goes smoothly, I am shocked by this. I have a lot of book reviews that suddenly appeared in my life, hehe, so I hope you’ll bear with me with all the book reviews explosions, lol.

Reading and Book Reviews

I got approved for a few books that I didn’t think I will be approved by NetGalley, so I have more books to read than I intended at first. This made me read these books first, so I am late with the reviews from my February TBR. All is okay though, I will just push them to this month 😉

That is all for this (hopefully) short life update, I wish you all a productive and relaxed month 🙂

How was your month and what do you plan for March?

As always, thank you so much for reading ❤

5 Tips On How To Start Over

Hey everyone, hope you are all having a nice Wednesday ❤

Today was a very busy day for both me and my mom, she moved to a new room so we had to clean and organize and declutter her stuff and by the end of the day, I felt exhausted. Yesterday was a nice day at home. I cleaned, wrote about 3.2K (yay me), edited, and read a book I am reviewing next month.

Today I wanted to talk about (or more so to share) about my writing progress. In EllE (working title) I am still editing. My editing is going at a slower pace than I wished it to be, but anything is better than nothing and slow is definitely a progress, so that’s good 😉

I have another project that I am working on. I almost finished writing it a while back (like 2.5 years ago). While I was starting to edit it, I’ve realized that there were too many huge blocks of writing that needed to be changed and rewritten, so I printed it and started working on it.

Writing, Coffee n' Notes

Sometimes in editing, you just need to start over and that’s okay.

Now that I am started over, I felt scared but also very excited, lol. It’s like visiting an old dream that you have forgotten, but suddenly remember bits of it. I was so scared to start over from scratch, but now that I am 35K words in, I realize that I’ve made a good choice. The plot runs smoother, the characters feel real and complicated, and the story itself keeps growing.

I wanted to share with you my 5 best tips on how to start over (if you have to start over), without banging your head on the wall or your table, lol. These 5 tips will make you work faster and better.

Btw, these tips work great with every new project as well, the only thing you’ll need to change is brainstorm ideas and then outline.

Coffee n' Notes

Print. Read. Highlight. Outline.

I printed my old novel (75K) and read it very slowly. I highlighted the parts that I thought were important and saved those parts in a new document, in a new order I thought they need to go.

Brainstorming, Coffee n' Notes

Outline or Re-Outline the novel, only this time add every little detail you can think of and put all those highlighted parts in the outline. My new outline is now about 45 pages, lol (while the old one was 5). It’s like a big summery of your novel 😀

Start writing. Work in bursts.

What helped me the most is to make the outline in a new document and start my writing on that, lol. This way, I am not working with a blank page (so no fear of writing or writer’s block) and I will always have a good idea where my characters and plot needs to go, so writing came easier.

Writing, Coffee n' Notes

Writing in small bursts helped me a lot so far. I worked in 20-30 minutes of writing sessions (a few times a day) and it didn’t make me feel overwhelmed or overworked.

After each writing session, take a break with some yummy coffee or tea and some fruit. Enjoy the feeling that you were writing 🙂 After the break, get back to your writing session.

Edit as you go

Don’t wait after you finish writing it all, to edit. Try editing while your mind is still fresh and full of details about the world, characters, and the plot. If you finished writing for that day, take the next day to edit what you wrote so far. Remember this is a simple edit. You will not go into the nitty-gritty of things. Look at the plot and characters, and see if they make sense to you.

Try working in bursts in your editing sessions, it will keep things light and you won’t feel overwhelmed by the entire process.

Write the ending

This is very important, even if it sounds weird. Take a few moments before starting your first writing session and just after you finished with your new and shiny outline. Start thinking about how your story will end and write the end scene of your novel or your last few pages.

This will not only help you see your entire novel in a big picture kinda way, but it will also help you see all the details of the plot and characters. Writing the end truly helped me see my novel and what details I needed to add in the middle (as that is the hardest part for me, lol).

After writing the end, I knew what will come before that and so on… It’s writing your novel from end to start 😉 But it works!

Breath

Last but not least, breath! Take your time and rest in between your writing sessions. Try to find something that inspires you, like a great book or even just enjoying a hot cup of tea (or coffee in my case).

The End, Coffee n' Notes

I really hope these tips will help you with your new or old project, as much as they helped me and if you have your own special tip that you wish to share, feel free to writing down in the comments so will all can learn 😀

As always, thank you so much for reading ❤

Week 1

If you are following me on Instagram, Then you know through my story that I had a busy week with my mom, doing a small procedure to look if everything is okay with her. Everything is relatively okay, lol 😀 I also started to feel really bad and I check my temperature and I have a fever that comes and goes (don’t know why). I really don’t like being sick and… I don’t have much time for that, lol.

Week 2

After a few days of not writing, I finally had a couple of days where I could do some writing and catch up on my word count. I have a few appointments with my mom to see a doctor in the hospital, and a few ultrasounds, but I hope to catch up more on the next week 😉

Day 5: 6580

7 Tip To Survive and Win NaNoWriMo

So… We are a week away from the start of NaNoWriMo and I thought this will be the best time to share with you some of the tips and tricks that really keep me motivated and win (Well… Most of the time anyway, lol, sometimes life must be first and last).

Btw, If you want you a writing buddy, you can add me here and feel free to add me on Twitter as well, and we can do some word sprints 😉 Remember that this is not how you normally go about writing a book, but NaNoWriMo is about the community, quality and fun, and this change of pace helps a lot sometimes… Just remember to have fun ❤

Okay, let’s start with some tips and tricks I’ve learned over the years of doing NaNoWriMo 🙂

Plan your time

A planner is your friend here, on those busy days plan some 5 – 15 min of writing. Now on those days that you have a bit more time on your hands, try to plan more writing time an hour or two and you will see that even though you are a bit behind one day, the next day you can be in the lead 😀

You have 50K words to write a month and even though the estimate word count per day is 1667 word, this is not the law – You can write 500 a day and the next day you can write 4K. What matters is the finish line.

Word sprints

These really help to get your brain fluids run smoothly, hehe and twitter NaNo Sprints is a really good place to find many people doing sprints of 5 – 20 minutes of fast writing. It makes you write fast and not think of what are you writing and if it’s the right thing to write or not… You just write.

Writing, NanoWrimo

Planner or Pantser

I am a strong believer in an outline, and I really think that a well-developed outline can keep the darkness of a writer’s block away. So take this week and write your idea – outline it as much as you can and write a sentence or two about your project.

Food and Drinks

Yummy food both healthy and not so healthy is always have been a great part of NaNoWrimos and a great part of my writing process, lol. Pick a few of your favorite food items, but try to put some healthy choices in there as well.

Junk food, NanoWrimo

Books, Movies, and Tv

I really recommend reading a book, see a Tv show or a movie that really inspires you to write and gives you a nudge to go back to your project ❤ I recently saw the great movie Stranger Than Fiction and it was so much fun to watch it, perfect movie to see before NaNo 😉

Kill the inner editor – Kill it!

Never edit as you go. This is not a regular writing session, where you can edit – Editing will only slow you down and even make you doubt yourself. So leave all the errors, red lines and other things that your brain will try to convince you they must be addressed – Don’t listen and keep writing.

Be kind to yourself

If by any chance you are getting behind and starting to feel frustrated, don’t beat yourself up for that. Take a deep breath, go for a walk or do your chores and when you come back, and keep writing. I know the goal is to win but it’s also to have fun with your writing and getting used to writing. So don’t be harsh on yourself – You can always write more words in those other days when you have more time.

That is all for today, I hope you found a tip or more to help you win Nanowrimo. Do you have any writing tips to share with us, that might help everyone be more prepared for Nano?

Embrace the madness that is NaNoWriMo and have fun ❤

Can’t wait for November to start 😀

My NaNoWriMo Prep 2017

NaNoWriMo2017

Happy Sunday to you all, I hope you are all resting and recharging your energies for the week to come 🙂

For those of you who don’t know what NaNoWriMo is, it’s a National Novel Writing Month (which takes place every year in November), where a bunch of people all around the world tries to write a novel of 50K words in 30 days. Nano is only 10 more days away (according to my sidebar counter hehe) and with the huge holiday we had here, and my mom’s doctor appointments, this month will fly by even faster.

This will be my 9th or 10th year of doing NaNo and even though I had to quit last year due to my mom’s health issues, I do hope that this year I will be able to finish.

I did make some great tips and NaNo prep a while back, and you can find them here and here. But this year I really wanted to share with you what I am doing these last days and how I prepare myself for NaNo (even with a busy schedule).

NaNoWriMo

So here are the main things I do to prepare myself for NaNo

Writing an outline

If you don’t have any idea what to write, just brainstorm ideas and pick one that you liked the most 🙂

For me, I know what I am writing… So I am doing a full detailed outline, as detailed as possible. I guess that this outline will be around 30-40 pages, lol. I have already started today, so I have 10 days to finish my outline and prepare everything else I might need.

Cleaning and organizing my space

My desk tends to get messy, a lot and very fast, lol. So I am going to clean my entire space, which is our spare room where I have my desk, our washer and dryer, our closets, printer and a few more bits here and there. So, I need to reorganize it and clean it. Making sure I have an inviting space to write in.

Writing a few pages

In a few days, I will start writing just a few pages, this way I will have a good place to start from and I won’t get overwhelmed. It really helps me see my project better and what I want to write, so when NaNo starts I am not stuck and can immediately continue writing. It’s just helping me not fall into the writer’s block trap 😀

Picking up a nice notebook, pens, and even an app

Usually, before NaNo starts, I pick a good notebook and my favorite pens and I take them with me everywhere in my bag. However, due to a busy schedule with my mom, I learned to use my phone for writing – a lot.

I love to clear out some space on my phone’s screen that only has my writing app and a timer (or the widgets) and I choose that screen as my home screen. This helps me to see my writing all the time on my phone and keeps me motivated to write and not get stuck.

Embrace the madness!

I starting to accumulate lots Coffee, candy, tea, water and healthy (and unhealthy) snacks 😀

I loved sharing with you how I prepare for NaNo and I hope it helped in any way 🙂 If you enter NaNo, how do you prepare for that? Share with us what are you going to do, in order to prepare yourself for NaNoWriMo 🙂

Thank you so much for reading and don’t forget to add me as a NaNo buddy ❤

Writing Ritual Tag

Hello everyone, I hope you are feeling well and having a wonderful day 😀 For me, this month is already full of doctors appointments (for my mom), long holiday and almost no time for myself and to write. However, from next week things will change a lot when my husband starts his school, and I will have 3 whole days to myself… to write, edit and put a little dent in my projects, lol.

More than a month ago I watched the lovely author Kim Chance on her YouTube channel and I saw this cute tag and I knew that I have to do this tag 🙂 Btw if you don’t know Kim Chance or her upcoming book – Keeper, then go visit her channel and say hello ❤

Questions for the Writing Rituals Tag

When do you write? (time of day, day of week)

Well, I mostly love to write at night but life won’t have it. So… I write in the morning when I am all alone in the house up until the sun is high up in the sky. I don’t have a specific day to write, every day or time that I get to write is a gift for me ❤

How do you seclude yourself from the outside world?

That is so easy. I love listening to the Rainy Mood app (and site) ❤ I’ve been using it for years now. I also try to write when I am alone in the house, that way I can write tons of words without any stress or interruptions.

How do you review what you wrote the previous day?

I usually use two ways: I select everything and let my Windows or Chrom speak what I wrote out loud and take notes. I also love reading what I wrote out loud with the right emotion (if I read a dialog), like actors going through their script.

What song is your go-to when you’re feeling uninspired?

Hmm… This one is hard, as I don’t listen to music while writing, but when I hear rain outside or just rain on that site, It puts me in the right mood for writing, lol, always!

Rain, Coffee n' Notes

What do you always do (i.e. listen to music, read, watch youtube, etc.) when you find yourself struggling with writer’s block?

Writing block is hard at times, but what works best for me is to write little poems, watch youtube on writing and on books, trying to write new ideas and new characters that maybe will inspire me more and free me of whatever stopped me from writing before.

I love going back to my favorite books and re-read them again to get the energies back.

I also take a look at my outline and try to find what made me feel stuck. Maybe there are things that aren’t working for my story and I will need to change them.

What tools do you use when you’re writing?

This is easy. I use my computer (word document) if I can. Sometimes, and sadly this happened a lot lately, lol, I use my phone (google keep), I use Rainy Mood app or site, pen, and paper (I mean a huge white paper that covers a huge part of my desk, I love it).

What’s the one thing you can’t live without during a writing session?

Pen and paper. I love my huge white papers (the kind that kids use to paint on, lol). If I am out and I am using my phone, then I must use the rainy mood with headphones.

How do you fuel yourself during your writing session?

Coffee, tea, snacks and more coffee. Wait… Did I say coffee already?

Coffee n' Notes

How do you know when you’re done writing?

Well… Here I really agree with Kim on that, I try to ask myself if I feel good with what I wrote and if there was good progress. If the answer is yes then I know I am ready to finish for today. But, from time to time if I must I will use a word count, page or chapter goal, but I try not to do that a lot.

That is all for this tag, this was such a fun tag to do 😀

I will tag a few people, but if you wish to do it yourself, consider yourself – Tagged!  (don’t forget to link your tag in my comments so I will see your answers).

Random Ramblings (wow it’s been a while)

Hello, everyone and happy Thursday to you all ❤ For me it means that weekend has almost arrived, lol. How was your week so far? Mine was busy and tomorrow is going to be very busy with writing, cooking, and lot of gaming 😀

It’s been awhile since I blogged… Really blogged, put down thoughts and share them with you all and I don’t include the book reviews or guest post I’ve done. I missed you all so much and I really wanted to update you on a few things that are going on in my life, both personal and work-related.

Things are somewhat calmer these days, though we have a few doctors appointments and check-ups to do in the upcoming months. My mom is feeling a bit better, but she is still very tired. I know that soon she will find her balance and start to feel tons better, maybe as winter will come (hopefully).

My husband started school (jumping up and down, lol, yay), wish him tons of luck everybody ❤ I am so proud of him for going to school again after so many years, I love his ambition to work harder for a better life for our family.

While my husband will be at school, he will also take our car 3 times a week… So, I will have more time to write and edit and finally finish some of our home projects, as I will stay at home those days (unless I will have an emergency, which I hope I will never have).

I have a few things I want to finish so I thought I would do a brainstorming and share these with you.

I have changed my newsletter from quarterly to bi-monthly so I will send to everyone that signed up to my newsletter every two months (for now).

I also have a few home projects to finish. Now that I will have a bit more time on my hands (hopefully), I will have more time to work on my house projects and finally finish some of them.

I started (finally) taking a few small steps into the writing career. But I hope to put this on the top of my daily list so that I can push my goals a bit forward. I really want to finish editing my projects. So I have still tons to do, hehe 🙂

One of my goals is to get back into blogging, but for now, I will only blog once a week (for now). I miss you all and I miss our talks in the comment section and most of all I just miss blogging and sharing with you, my days and my thoughts.

After I’m finished with my last review, I plan to take a break from doing book-reviews for a few months (maybe until the start of the new year). It’s not because I do not enjoy the books I’m reading or reviewing them but I really need to focus on my own writing and editing. Now that my mom is feeling a bit better (knocking on wood three times, lol), I know it’s the right time to focus harder on my writing and finish a few projects I started and start run with them.

Well, that is all from now. It’s so nice to share with you what is going on and just some random thought I’m thinking out 😀 Feel free to share your own upcoming projects and goals you want to finish (maybe this will the wish you put out there and start working on it) 😉

As always, thank you so much for reading ❤

The 2016/2017 Tag

Hello everyone, I hope you are all having a nice day 🙂

Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve done a Tag. I remember that they used to be everywhere in the blogging community, but now… They are a rare thing. I used to love doing them and reading them, they were always such a fun idea and I am so happy I’ve been tagged to this tag (even if I’m 4 months late, lol, sorry).

I was tagged by the lovely Karen from Confetti and Curves. thank you, hun 🙂 If you don’t know who this wonderful person is or her blog, go check her out and say hello, she is such a great friend and her posts always make me happy, you’ll love her 😀

Rest for a minute, sit back and enjoy this lovely tag 😉

Describe your 2016 in 3 words

Hectic, Stressful and productive.

Write the name of 2 people that have characterized your 2016.

My husband, always by my side, no matter what ❤

My mom, she is my teacher of life.

I have to put my best friend here as well, as she is my inspiration.

Write the most beautiful place you’ve visited in 2016 and why you liked it so much?

Rome, Italy. Omg, it was amazing. From the beautiful building everywhere, the gorgeous fountains and the Coliseum (wow). I could see myself just sitting there and writing, painting and read all day long. Rome may be overcrowded but it’s also amazing and inspiring.

Write the most delicious food you’ve tasted in 2016

I have to say… Italian Pizza from Rome (gluten-free of course). It was amazing and the first in a very long time that I even ate pizza, which is my favorite food ever.

Write the event which marked you most in 2016.

I have three.

  1. My mom went to a new nursing home, and that changed my life completely.
  2. My hubby started a diet and he is such an inspiration of strength and willpower.
  3. My mom was diagnosed with Lung Cancer.

Write the finest purchase you’ve made in 2016, and if you want to link a photo.

Sorry, I can’t think of a single one. Didn’t buy many things that year.

Write 3 good intentions for 2017

1. Work hard on my goals. Publishing my work is very important to me.

2. Lose weight, so that my body will be stronger and healthier.

3. “Spend as much quality time with my family as possible – they come first and foremost!” I can’t agree more with Karen on this. This is so important to me, more so this year than ever.

Write 1 place you want to visit in 2017

This year I would love not to travel at all, lol. I know it sounds weird, but I really want to stay at home and rest, as this is a rare thing for me.

Write 1 plate of food you’d like to eat in 2017.

Gluten Free + Vegan Pizza 😀 I’ve accomplished this and it was amazing, but I still want more 😀
