Writer’s Log: Finally Writing

Hello everyone and happy Tuesday to you all. I hope you are having a good day ❤

If you been following these posts series of Writer’s Log so far then you know that I am working hard on decluttering our home as much as I can and try to more mindful of what I keep or throw and how much plastic I use, or even trying to figure out how to reduce our waste.

Since this Sunday I’ve decluttered over 2000 things from papers I organized to items we held onto for far too long and books. For my husband this process is a hard one, he really doesn’t like to throw out things (just in case he will need something, someday). I truly know how he feels because I was the same just a few months back, so happy that I am o longer in that place 😀

From time to time, our home is in complete chaos with all the decluttering that is going on, but I still feel lighter than before. I gave so many clothing items away, books and blankets that we already starting to having more space for the things that were left in our home. Finally, I can breathe, but I know that there’s much more to do. When we finally have every item in its own “home” he’s the right place then I will know that I get closer to what I want.

On the low waste department, I am doing better but not as much as I want. We got Brita the water filter to help reduce the plastic water bottle we buy each week, and today is just our true first day of using it.

Today I even wrote for a bit, and just jotted down ideas of some problematic scenes and it felt amazing. It’s been a while since I sat down and wrote or edited and I missed it a lot. It feels like a muscle just after a workout after a while that you didn’t work out, hehe. It was hard getting into it but after a few minutes, I was started to get into it and felt better after editing a few lines. With all the holidays, doctors and decluttering our home, I barely go sit and write or edit so having the opportunity to do that felt just right 🙂

Btw, almost finished reading Again but Better and so far I have mixed emotion about this book but I will let you know in this weekend in my review.

As always, thank you so much for reading ❤

Writer’s Log: The more you have the happier you are

Hello everyone and happy Sunday to you all ❤
Hope you are having a great day 🙂

While reading this post’s title, what was your initial thought? Bullshit? So true? IDK? Maybe? Not for me? Hell yeah, more means success…

Which one of these is more related to you? For me, as an adult, I realize that as kids most of our parents, teachers, society and social media did us wrong. It doesn’t matter if you’re living in a 1 bedroom Apartment or have a 26 bedrooms house. If your basic needs are met that’s all you need.

In a world where everything needs to be better and bigger than what your friends have, know what truly brings you joy, happiness, and more importantly, fulfillment.

More is not equal to success, less is not equal to success… being fulfilled and happy is being a success.

I’ve learned that for me, more doesn’t bring me happiness, and even worse… It brings me sadness, disconnection and more stress to the already stressful life. Having bookshelves filled with over 500 gorgeous Books always been my dream, (to have a library in my own home) but now I’m there and I’m still not happy with my books.

Don’t get me wrong I love reading and the book smell should be a perfume for me, but having these many books, means having to clean them a few times a month (living in the dusty countryside) and doing that, just brings stress, anger and feeling annoyed to clean books, especially the ones I’ve read once and never want to read again, hehe. And this goes with other things like clothes, makeup, and even furniture.

I’ve learned that having more only keeps me away from my true passion, as I’m always stressing about cleaning, decluttering and reorganizing, again and again, every few weeks or months. What started as just a thought become a need and a journey towards a new lifestyle. I’ve realized this weekend that my writing always been connected to how stressful I feel and how I feel about my environment… No wonder I can’t write when I feel so cluttered.

However, I will end this with a great progress 😀 I started to rewrite some scenes that I was so stuck with them and now that my environment feels a bit better, my creative juices are already started to flow and I finally got out of the rut 😉 I wrote in two days about 4+K which felt amazing and the pages that I had major issues with finally looks amazing and the story finally feels like it’s going in the right direction.

Well, that is all for my ramblings in this post, I hope it wasn’t too much, hehe.

How is your week/month going?

As always, thank you so much for reading ❤

Writer’s Log: Another Minimalism Challenge

Good evening everyone, hope you are doing well ❤

While back I’ve written a post about minimalism and how I want to declutter our home 😉 The Minimalism Challenge (Game). I did this “game or challenge” twice and I decluttered almost 1000 items from our home, small and big. To some, this may seem like too much and to others, it’s a very small number but to us, it wasn’t enough, lol.

So I thought that I will do it again. Last time I decluttered about 50 books and this time I want to try and declutter more. I love books and I love to hoard them, but some of the books are just props in our home, I will never read them again so it’s time for them to find a new home and so our other items that will be leaving 😀

I know for a fact that while I love the stuff in our home and they do make me happy they still overcrowd me in my every day and I feel trapped by our stuff. I don’t like that feeling and I know I can change this feeling.

So… Everyday from yesterday I will take an item, 2, 3 and so on, and let them go ❤ and I will let you know how it goes.

Now to other updates…

As part of my de-stressing, I’ve started doing meditations twice a day, every day… Well, this was only my second day of doing it, hehe but I do intend on keeping this habit. I feel much better every time I meditate, I think that by the act of taking a moment to myself, breathe and just listen to the silence really makes me think of what I truly want and try to find some answers and ideas… You know, like when you are in the shower and suddenly a wonderful idea comes to your mind that is how these meditation are to me (so far).

Now about the most important thing, being creative 😀

Yesterday I did some blackouts on a writer magazine and I loved that. This small act just let my mind run through the pages I’ve printed and found random words that by the end of it just made me smile and happy, how amazing is that. I love the part that starts with the word writers and ends with the words what if. (click on the image to enlarge it if you want)

Blackout, Coffee n' Notes

“Writers create their story often fail, the trick quirky ideas, brainstorming what if.”

This weird meshed-up line is so inspiring to me and while I mediated today it lit up my thoughts and the images that ran through my mind while I was in deep meditation.

About my own writing…

I also wrote a bit after I got home from my mom’s doctor appointment and it felt almost addictive to just sit there and write… Wow, how I missed this feeling.
Overall it was a creative day which I am very happy about and I declutter two things today, yey 😀 so I am doing good with the challenge 😉

See you tomorrow but for now,

As always, thank you so much for reading ❤

Writer’s Log

Hello everyone, hope you are all doing okay ❤

After lots of thinking, planning and lots of journaling, I came to the conclusion that I don’t like where my life is heading. I basically stopped creating in any form and rarely even writing. I stopped writing/editing, reading, drawing, playing music… and I focused all my energy on helping my family, my friends and basically stopped everything else. I am telling you the complete truth so you’ll know where I am coming from and understand where I want to be. And maybe even go through this journey with me.

I miss our connection and I want to bring it back so we will always have this community and the outlet to seek help and try to overcome life’s obstacles together.

So here it comes… Are you ready?

I am starting a huge series here at Coffee n’ Notes, that will focus on a few major things in my life that I want to change and the main goal is to be able to create again:

  • Create more – Writing, blogging, drawing, doodling, or anything else I want to create.
  • Meditate every day twice a day, and to slowly be able to de-stress and breathe better.
  • Consum less tv, and social media.
  • Declutter more, our home and lives. Living with less clutter and chaos has become one of my main goals this year, after writing.
  • Eat better, and taking care of my mind and body.

I’ve been sick for almost 2 months and due to this illness I became vegan again and you know what? I feel so much better. I know it’s just been two weeks but I eat better food and I feel much better than before.

I spoke to a specialist who said that due to my none stop stressful living, I get sick a lot and I can do even more harm to my body and to my mind, so I must change and that is what I working on right now.

This will be hard for me but I need this change in my life, I can’t give myself to others as much as I do, I am burning up all my energies and at the end of the day, I’m left with nothing. I need to trust this process and this journey to lead me where I need to be so that I will be able to be the better version of myself and by doing so I will be able to help my family even more.

I want to do the small things every single day that will slowly build these habits I want to build.

So… Every day from today 14.4.19 until 6.6.19 I will post about my progress and how I find my creativity again ❤

I have tons to do with my mom this month and on May but as I said before I need to find my way in all this chaos. I will try to keep it short and to the point in my next posts.

I hope this series will not be spam in your reader and if so I am sorry in advance, but this is something I have to do for myself and share with the world these moments… good and bad and how I truly going through things in my life.

I hope you don’t mind coming along with me in this weird journey but even though this will be hard for me (really hard, I can tell you now) hopefully, it will lead me to where I need to be and create the books I was meant to create

As always, thank you so much for reading ❤

Starting Over: Hitting the Reset Button

Arriving at one goal is the starting point to another.
– John Dewey

It’s been a while, sorry for that. January was complete madness and February is a bit slower but still busy. Missed you all so much and this little corner of ours 💕

It’s been almost two months, but I am slowly getting organized an trying to catch up on all my to do’s. The good news is that I was able to have a few days here and there to write and edit (these revisions are killing me, hehe). Anyways… Happy to be back ❤

This post will be a bit longer than usual, so go grab a yummy hot drink, mine is caramel coffee and let’s talk ☕

Because January was such a crazy month, February feels like the start of 2019, I know it sounds a bit out there but for me, it’s the truth. February feels like a fresh start and only now I am able to think clearly about my needs, my goals and my dreams and only in this month I can see the road ahead of me and not get overwhelmed. Because all of these reasons I see February as the new start of 2019, I also see it as a great opportunity to hit that reset button and start fresh with new intentions and see things through the eye of an eagle.

“Hitting the reset button” is hard but for me, it was a necessary step, in order to climb out of this overwhelming haze that I was in. I listened to a few podcasts and everything got better, hehe… No, but it did help me realize that I was overwhelmed and too stressed.

I took a chill day, to just relax, listen to some music and breathe. I’ve inserted meditation to my weekly routines, but I was too stressed to really enjoy and get any benefits from that. So I took out a pen and a paper and wrote above a question.

“How are you feeling at this moment?” I took a deep breath and started mapping out everything that I felt… The good, the bad, everything (big or small). I didn’t want solutions, just to take out what was overwhelming me and put it on a piece of paper. After filling the entire page I saw all the chaos that was in me and the weird thing is that I was starting to feel better, my head started to think clearer.

I realized that no matter how much I wanted to I couldn’t show up for my goals and my own dreams because I was too busy and stretched too thin from helping everyone else and then things started to change. I started to go back to my old self, being more optimistic and even going back to my old “magic vibe” such as tarot and just tapping to the universe’s magic, showing up for small goals, tiny steps that someday will lead to something bigger 😀

I slowly showed up for my yoga practice a few times a week, at home. Started with just a few easy minutes and slowly getting into it with soft stretches, until I felt stronger and ready to push myself harder.

I also slowly started to reorganize and define my workplace, my home and what I truly envisioned it would look like after I achieve what I want and after I showed up for my goals. I got a plant from my mom that my husband named Nott The Plant (Nott from Critical Role) and I hope it will grow and thrive, I finally got the two decks of cards I wanted: The Universe Has You Back and the Animal Spirits  ❤

Nott the plant, Animal Spirit Deck, The Universe Has Your Back, Coffee n' Notes

With this new mindset of just showing up for my small goals helped me feel calmer and more ready to tackle the big goal that is my book revisions. Now, I am trying to show up for my weekly goals with the notion that I can always just take a deep breathe and push that reset button and start again.

I found that just taking the few moments and allowing myself to have that reset mindset helps me a lot with bring back my creativity, my magic and the entire flow of how I move, act and think of myself and with others.

For me what helped is taking some “me” moments or even a day to just be myself, without a deadline, tasks or anything else I need to do, just be. I know it sounds weird but for me, it helped a lot. Taking almost a full day by myself to think, relax and feel the creativity flow around me. Meditate, brainstorm ideas and dump all that is cluttered my mind to a piece of paper and lately I listen to a lot of music on Spotify and create playlists for any mood I feel, all to make me feel more connected to myself (and others) and to my dream and thrive.

With all these small but crucial changes that this small step of resetting our intentions brings to us a calmer mind, happiness, and the focus we want to be able to thrive and tackle the task we want and need to achieve. Know that you can start over (even each day), brings such a calm vibe and joy.

What are your steps and habits to reset your mind, body, and soul when life is too overwhelming?

As always, thank you so much for reading ❤

December Goals

Hello everyone, I hope you are all having a good weekend ❤

This month is an extremely busy and stressful month. My mom is not feeling that good and she has water in her lungs so on Monday she will undergo a small procedure to drain the water and see what the water is made of (infection, cancer, and other health issues). On Sunday we have to go to her heart doctor and do CT as preparations, but this entire month is full of doctors and checkups.

I can’t believe how fast December has arrived and it’s already the end of the year… Wow. But there are still 4 weeks to go so lots to do and goals to accomplish. From January I will start posting mostly once a week due to a tight schedule of editing, but I will try to post more 🙂

Anyways, before we go into my December Goals, let’s see how I did in November.

How I did with my November goals?

  1. Win Nanowrimo (write 50K). ❌ (Nope, didn’t win but I wrote 34K so that’s great).
  2. Paint behind the stove. ✔
  3. Blog 2-3 times a week. ✔
  4. Duolingo daily. ❌ Didn’t do it even once in November, lol.
  5. Yoga 3 times a week. ❌ I did do Yoga but I think I ended up doing only once a week.
  6. Declutter the closet room. ✔ Not finished but I did a lot and I ended up decluttering about 490 Items (yay me).
  7. Read 2 books. ✔ I’ve Read 5 books ❤

My December Goals

  1. Blog 2 times a week.
  2. Continue writing (my goal is to write 15K).
  3. Continue decluttering (declutter the other closet and bookshelves).
  4. Put up the Christmas tree 🎄 Still didn’t do this 😦
  5. Drink 1.5L of water daily.
  6. Make Jan 2019 bullet journal.
  7. Plan posts for Dec and Jan. ✔
  8. Journal daily.
  9. Yoga twice a week.
  10. Read 6 books.

My Instagram followers chose my TBR for this month from my Goodreads TBR pile

Ig Dec TBR, Coffee n' Notes

So here’s what they have chosen for me:

December TBR, Coffee n' Notes

December TBR, Coffee n' Notes

December TBR, Coffee n' Notes

That is all for my ambitious goals, but I want to push myself harder so I can accomplish more even when life is hectic.

What is your main goal for this month?

Last Minute NanoWrimo Prep

Hey all, I hope you are all having a good day and if you are participating in NaNoWriMo then here are some quick and easy steps you can do to ensure you will have a better start to your NaNoWriMo experience 😀

If you want to see me last year’s Last Minute Nanowrimo Prep, check it out as I am sure you will find a tip or two help you relax and feel prepared.

This year I am looking at things in a different way and I hope this will help you too 🙂

Last minute organization

If you haven’t done you outline like I’ve suggested in my Nanowrimo prep, you can use this last day to do a fast outline and have a quick know of what you gonna write about. Research only the key things you’ll need in order to keep on writing. you can always go back and do more research.

Put everything you need to do this month in your calendar/planner/bullet journal, that way you will have a better understanding when you can write.

Organize your space where are mostly going to write and if it’s your bed, try to make it nice and tidy every day so that you will have an amazing feeling sitting there and write.

Don’t start at midnight

There are a lot of Nanowrimo addicts that will start as soon as the clock hits 12, don’t! Go to sleep and when you wake up you are fresh and ready to start your writing.

Twitter

Twitter is your friend here (I know… it sounds weird), during Nanowrimo, you will find a lot of people on twitter doing words sprints and this is your time to follow a few of these sprints and a few nice people to connect with. As I wrote in my 4 Nanowrimo Tips last year, using the sprints will help you write faster and more words.

Google Drive

As Twitter, google drive is your best friend, lol. If you put your work on google drive you are automatically synced to everywhere and so you can write from everywhere, even from your phone.

The “Nanowrimo” app

There is a Nanowrimo companion you can find in the app store. You can see in the widgets your daily word count and your overall word count, this keeps you motivated and always thinking about your novel 😀

Be zen about it, hehe

Try journaling while before the madness starts to clear your mind of all the things that are bothering you throughout your day, I will highly recommend to do it even while you are doing Nanowrimo (it helps a lot).

Meditate to calm your inner self. I know how it sounds, lol, but calming yourself down will keep you focused on what you want and even let you figure things out when you’re in a bit of a rut, so keep doing even a 2 minutes meditation every night before sleep, will help you a lot during all this craziness 😀

Stock up

find some yummy healthy and not so healthy, hehe food to stock up when the time will come and lots of coffee/tea, that way you will always have some good crunchy food to each while fighting to write a scene or just in a mini-blackout.

Take a deep breath and embrace the madness and have fun, after all that’s why we are doing it the passion for writing ❤

Are you participating in Nanowrimo this year?

As always, thank you so much for reading and don’t forget to add me as a NaNo buddy ❤

19 Before 2019

Hey everyone, I hope you are all having a great weekend ❤

I am feeling tons better and it finally rained here and a lot. It was amazing, our first real rain storm and it felt great. I love the smell of rain and how everything looks so beautiful and crisp after the rain.

We have only 2 and a half month before 2019 and I truly want to do a few more things before the end of the year. I saw this 19 before 2019 circling around the internet and I thought I would give it a try. Now I am sure that most of you know just how much I love a good list (hehe) and so of course, I’ve made myself a list of 19 things I want to finish, do, or continue doing before 2019.

Here are my 19 things I want to do before 2019

  1. Read 10 books 😀
  2. Finish outlining the series, enough with the dilly-dally.
  3. Declutter the entire kitchen (I can’t wait to do this, maybe even this Tuesday) 😉
  4. Declutter the entire closets room (I am so dreading this one).
  5. Start doing yoga (again – daily).
  6. Win Nanowrimo.
  7. Write in December.
  8. Let go of any toxic, unsupportive people in my life (started on this already, it feels amazing).
  9. Blog 3 times a week (already on it) 😀
  10. Journal daily.
  11. Drink more water (2L) I started a monthly challenge to drink 2L of water everyday 🙂
  12. Consum less and create more (I’ve taken a break from my social media for a bit so I can write and edit more).
  13. Meditate every evening before bed (already started on this).
  14. Sleep more (at least 6-8 hours a day).
  15. Once a week, pick a day to pamper yourself and do some self-care (oh how much I need this) ❤
  16. Pick after myself every day and put things where they belong.
  17. Try coloring again or just doodling, I missed it.
  18. Continue learning a language or two (I took a small break but I already continuing learning) 😉
  19. Be a better friend to other and be kinder to myself ❤

Well, this is my very long and a bit weird list, lol. Hope you all got inspired and maybe even make your own list of things you wish to accomplish before 2019.

What would you like to accomplish before 2019 is here?

As always, thank you so much for reading ❤

October Goals & TBR

Hey everyone, I hope you are all having a great start to October ❤

We are already two weeks deep in October and even though I didn’t accomplish much, I still accomplished a few things that were very important to me, however, there are still a few things I want to finish or start, so I thought why not share my October goals with you 😉 and see how I will finish this month.

October = Fall to me and soon winter will come as well (omg how I want winter to come). You can already feel the air cooling down a bit and the days are getting shorter, which for a lot of people I know is not a great thing but for me it’s amazing. It is a sign that winter is closer than ever and maybe, just maybe this heat will soon be over (fingers crossed). Fall for me is cozy blankets, yummy hot drinks, and lots of reading.

I accomplished a small daily routine that helps me get up early in most of the days and even in the evening, I have a routine that let’s be more organized and productive. How amazing is that?

If you want to know more of my new morning and evening routine, let me know in the comments or through my social media and I will post a morning and evening routine for you all to see and maybe it will help you if you are struggling. (wouldn’t mind any tips as well if you want to share) 😀

But for now, let’s start this post with my monthly goals.

My October Goals are:

  1. Re-organizing my summer to fall/winter closet.
  2. Re-organize kitchen cabinets.
  3. Finish outlining the series.
  4. Continue editing (2 chapters at least).
  5. Prepare for NaNoWriMo (oh yeah, this year I am all in).
  6. Finish all my commitments before Nanowrimo.
  7. Read 8 books (OMG, yes… 8 books, hehe) 😀

Books I’m reading this month

I haven’t read much lately, I was in a huge reading slump due to all the stress and this month I want to do 3 reading marathons to kick start my new reading 🙂

The week (14.10-20.10), I want to marathon read Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children Series By Ransom Riggs for the fourth book A Map of Days that just came out (I can’t wait to read it).

Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children Series, Coffee n' Notes

Next week (21.10-27.10) I want to marathon read The Boahim Series By Raven Oak. The first book was amazing ❤

The Boahim Series, Coffee n' Notes

For the last week of October (28.10-30.10) and for Halloween, I want to read 2 more books (why am doing this to myself, lol?)

Toil and Trouble, Coffee n' Notes Shadow of the Fox, Coffee n' Notes

These are my very ambitious goals and huge TBR, but I know if I will push myself I will be able to achieve most of them, and maybe even all 🙂

What are you reading? Any goals you wish to accomplish this month?

As always, thank you so much for reading ❤

NaNoWriMo Prep: Using October to start writing again

Hey everyone, I hope you are all doing okay ❤

NaNoWriMo is less than a month away and October is the month to start writing again or just give yourself a boost of motivation to continue your on-going project. I am (still) in my editing phase so I will continue on with my own writing project in hopes to finally put a serious dent in my edits.

If you don’t know what NaNoWriMo is, then let me explain it to you… Nanowrimo is National Novel Writing Month that comes every year on November. In this nano month, you will try to write 50K in one month 😀 If you’re gasping of shock right now and thinking that it’s way too hard, then let me tell you that it is hard and it is madness, but that’s the entire fun of this. The point is to write and not think of what your novel will look like (that’s editing for).

Last year and a few years back I wrote a few NaNoWriMo Prep Posts that might spark your creativity and prepare you for what is coming, especially if you are new to Nanowrimo and not so familiar with what is Nanowrimo 😉

Here is my checklist, that helps me stay on track with my writing through Nanowrimo and preparing for it

Know what you gonna write about

Use this month to know what you’re going to write about. Try imagining your world, your characters, the theme of the entire plot. At first, it’s okay to write just a name, a place or a sentence of the plot. The more you write whatever comes to your mind the more good ideas will flow out and spark your Imagination and let it run wild.

Outline

I said this a lot but it’s true, outlining your novel truly helps, especially after the midpoint of your novel. So… Outline your nano novel as much as you can. My outline is about 40 pages and in many times more than 60 pages long (lol, wow… I need help). So do as much outlining as you can this month until you know all the characters, places, plots, and even some subplots 😉

Research

Don’t be lazy and do the work. Research about places, or people.
Listen to some conversation near you, hehe (I know it sounds weird and intrusive but it helps a lot) then, write down some key notes about what stood out in your eyes.
If your book is more on the sci/fi or Fantasy research about that subject, and try to create as many details as you can because when Nanowrimo arrive you will not have any time to do all this and you will have a much easier time writing down almost 2K a day, every day.

Connect

Go now to nano site and connect with other writers. you can find groups in your local area or just add writing buddies to help you be more motivated throughout the month, and do some sprints with them.

Take a break

In the week before nano or even just a couple of days before, take a break and enjoy your freedom, it will be your last chance for some free time for 30 days, hehe 😀

Embrace the madness

Don’t think of how it will turn out, no one has to see it. Enjoy the community and the madness of writing sprints with other writers and race towards your goal of writing 50,000 words a month. Ready to have some fun?

This what I do every year, and it helps me get on track when I feel stuck or just have fun and write with other writers out there, so I hope it will help you too.

After all, as writers we mostly tend to do our craft alone and once in a year it’s so much fun to just embrace the madness of Nano and enjoy the wonderful community ❤ Btw, I’ve made this for NaNoWriMo last year, to put on my phone and on my Instagram and other social media, feel free to download it and use it 😀

Link to download this cute nano picture here: Nanowrimo Pic 😀 Have fun downloading it and, I hope you’ll enjoy using it.

As always, thank you so much for reading ❤
