And yes, this includes WordPress.com users! In fact, the whole point is that they can be used on WordPress.comsites (like mine) and look unique, instead of the plain ones you find out there now. But first, here’s the story of how they came about:

pink rose, progress bars, for writers, wordpress.com widgets, progress widget, website tool, book tools, writer tools, writer help, blog tool, for bloggers, for writers,

When I started revising the draft of my novel Strayborn, I wanted a cool widget that would show on the sidebar of my website my writing progress. I looked/googled around, but everything that was pretty, cool, and had special features used Javascript or some other thing that WordPress.com doesn’t allow. In the end, what I did find was a simple one color bar that showed percentages, so I used that. But after a while, it stopped working. I don’t know what the reason was, but it would no longer work on any of my sites. My frustration flared up.

I got to thinking how I…

July… New Month, New Start… Right?

Hello everyone and happy July to you all ❤

Wow, it’s already July. Where did all the year go? Time is running so fast and I barely can catch up. My month started out already with tons of things to do for my mom, for myself and lots more. My calendar looks too colorful, even for me, hehe 😀 I love the start of a month, everything feels fresh and there’s a feeling in the air that everything is possible.

As a new month comes, I sit down, reflect on the previous month and think of all the things I want to achieve this month, especially when I didn’t do so good with my June goals. I want to start posting these posts again, to keep myself accountable… So feel free to ask me how my goals are doing any time you want ❤

Here are my July goals

Work

Write at least 5K (it’s not much but it’s something) 😉

Finish outlining.

Edit 2 chapters (editing is a real struggle for me, hehe).

Blog twice a week (This month is too hectic so I will post only twice a week. Scheduling is almost done, yay).

Finish formatting my new Bi-monthly newsletter (going out in August, so don’t miss it).

Social Media

Post more on my social media (talking about struggle, lol).

Mom

Organize my mom’s medical papers (this is very urgent and I’m procrastinating on this every day).

Home

Keep the house clean and organized every day (new evening routine).

Self-Care

Drink more water 😀 (I know, I know… but I am doing better with this goal, even got a new cute water bottle).

Make time for a full half an hour of self-care once a week ❤ (Like mani-pedi, facial mask and just a bit of pampering).

Go back to walking or elliptical.

Hobby

What is a hobby? lol, It’s been so long. But seriously, I would love to return to my junk journal at least once a month 😀

Also, I want to get back to my reading. My TBR pile is growing fast and after a huge reading-slump, I am starting to get out of it so I hope to read more. My goal is to read 3 books this month.

What goal are you hoping to achieve this month?

Let me know

As always, thank you so much for reading ❤

Just A Little Random Update ;)

Hello everyone, hope you are all having a wonderful and relaxed Sunday ❤

First, let me say that I sorry I haven’t posted anything on Thursday, I was still feeling exhausted from our trip to Jerusalem for my mom doctor appointment. Both my mom and I were feeling exhausted and as soon as we got home, I fell asleep – Immediately, hehe. My body still hurts a bit but overall I feel much better 😉

These days, I am in a bit of a reading slump but I am slowly starting to get out of it 😀 For me, reading slumps are a great sign that I am in a very hard writing mode and that’s true… These days I edited a lot and wrote a few chapters which I am very happy with how they came out. The ending never looked so near 😉 Omg, the biggest tip I will ever have to give is to PLAN & OUTLINE your work, makes things tons easier.

This will be my 4th and final draft before the Beta’s and the professional editor ❤

Excited Gif Minions Gif

This Tuesday, which is a day that I stay at home, I plan to do a massive writing session, so if you want to join me in some wordsprints – tweet me at @GalitGBalli or DM me on twitter or IG and I would love to do some sprints with you ❤ I plan to push myself as much as I can, while trying to write 8-12K. I will be free to do some wordsprints from 11:00am (My time – Israel) until 13:00 Here’s a time converter.

Also… On Tuesday there’s a massive update to the game I love (Guild Wars 2) and I am so hyped for that, so on the afternoon my husband and I will be gaming to the late hours on the night, yay.

Anime Gaming Gif

Here’s an in-game picture I love from my IG, I love playing with this character (Syla her name) and this outfit is just amazing on her 😍💕

The Chronicles of Crallick, Book Review, Coffee n' Notes

Blurb

The Chronicles of Crallick, the first book in The Spirit of Amathrain series, tells the story of Crallick Oakentree, a man with a checkered past that finds himself widowed in a cruel jest of fate. As a result, Crallick becomes a failed farmer, a single father, and an alcoholic.

One day, after awaking from one of his many drunken stupors, Crallick finds his daughter has been kidnapped and his favourite drinking hole has been set ablaze.

Leaving the serene beauty of his home in Gladeholme, he travels across beautiful countryside and over a wide ocean full of danger, before tackling the seedy ports of a pirate-ridden archipelago. Still though, the kidnappers remain one step ahead of him and his accompanying friends. Crallick is intent on one thing: rescuing his daughter. Failing that, he wants to inflict his revenge upon those that do her harm.

But after ten years of drinking and aging, does he still have what it takes? Follow his Chronicles and find out.

Review
4 Stars

The Chronicles of Crallick is a Fantasy novel, a genre I mostly read and love.

The blurb did a wonderful job pulling me in and hit the right notes for me. Even from the gorgeous cover you can tell that it’s full of magic and action, and I knew I would love reading this book and I am so happy it turned out great.

From the start we see the main character struggle in life but as soon as his daughter in danger he immediately pulls himself together and sets off to find his daughter and rescue her.

The main character and his friend go out and start their journey and even though it takes them a long while to find her, her father never gives up on finding her and with all the trails and adventures they undergo, his goals is always in his mind.

The plot was good and I loved the idea of the story. However, it seems like a very similar idea and execution like all other Fantasy books I’ve read. Said that I still enjoyed the book very much.

The author did a good job with the characters, though I wish he add more growth to them after all it’s been a year of hardships and worry but no growth really shown in them. The story was very character driven which is my favorite. I love character-driven stories and here the main character really shows how much it’s important to have a strong character to make the story better. Also, I have to add that the author’s writing style is really easy to follow and has a great way to pull you further into the story.

Overall, the story was good and I loved the main character, Crallick. I think the author did a great job and even though there were a few things I didn’t like, I still think it was a fast-paced read, full of adventures and trials which grabbed my attention from start to finish. If you love Fantasy this book is definitely for you 🙂

20 Questions Book Tag

Hey everyone and happy Sunday to you all, hope your weekend is great ❤

I saw this tag over at Jenny In Neverland Blog and I really loved it even though I wasn’t tagged, so I thought to do this tag as well 😉 If you don’t know Jenny and her blog, go visit her now and say I sent you. She has such a beautiful blog and I love reading her fun posts.

I love reading books and doing fun tags so this is just perfect and I hope you’ll love it too.

Books

How many books are too many books in a series?

Well, I love long series and I have a few that are more than 30 books, lol, but I will say that my favorite number for a series is 3 books. It’s starting to get harder and harder for me to invest in a longer series due to a hectic life.

How do you feel about cliffhangers?

I love and hate cliffhangers in series ❤ But in most cases I really love them, they make the waiting better and I always thinking of that book, more than others. But if the author decides not to write the next book in the series and leaves with the cliffhanger that really pisses me off.

Hard copy or paperback?

For me, it’s paperbacks, hands down. I think hardcovers are more for vanity and display, while paperbacks are lighter, affordable and just more fun reading from (in my opinion anyway).

Favorite Book?

Wow, this is so hard as I really – truly love a lot of books. But If you are putting a gun to my head to choose then I will say Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. However, if I could put a few more names in there 😉 I will put The Host, Jane Eyre and a few more (well, a lot more, lol).

A least Favorite book?

I don’t like to book shame, lol, but there are a few that I didn’t like or even didn’t care to finish.

Love triangles, yer or no?

Love triangles are okay but not in all genres. If it’s Fiction, I think it fits nicely but in Fantasy or Science Fiction I think it’s mostly done badly and I don’t care for it. I don’t like to read romance types books, so I guess that says it all 😉

Love

The most recent book you just couldn’t finish?

Wow, I really don’t like this question (it’s too hard). I had a few books like that this year. I will say that the only book I own a physical copy of on my bookshelves that I didn’t like is The Cuckoo’s Calling by J. K. Rowling but I think it’s mostly because I am not that into Mystery reading.

A book you’re currently reading?

I am re-reading Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas ❤ I love this book and the entire series so much and her next series, lol 😀

I am also finishing up The Chronicles of Crallick (The Spirit of Amathrain, #1) by Brad C. Baker, a book I received to review.

Last book you recommended to someone?

I just talked with my best friend about The Artist Way by Julia Cameron and it turns out she already has the book and loved it a lot, I have the book on my kindle but I really want to have a physical copy of it 😀

The oldest book you’ve read?

The Monk by Matthew Gregory Lewis (It’s a romance novel that was published in 1796).

The newest book you’ve read?

I think it’s Turtles All the Way Down by John Green ❤

Favorite Author?

Wow, I must put a few authors in here (I can’t choose, hehe).

I love Jane Austen, J. R. R. Tolkien, Douglas Adams, John Green, J. K. Rowling, Sarah J. Maas, Robin Hobb, Charlotte Brontë Rick Riordan and so many more ❤

Buying books it borrowing books?

Finally an easy question, definitely buying books.

Take my money

A book you dislike that everyone seems to like?

I will have to say Carve the Mark (Carve the Mark #1) by Veronica Roth. I just couldn’t connect to anything and I was very disappointed by the writing and by the story.

Bookmarks or dog ears?

In most cases I don’t use bookmarks, I try to remember where I was, but if I need to I will use bookmarks and never ever dogears – NEVER, Nope!

No Dog Ears

A book you can always re-read

So much – omg. I love re-reading any book that I loved and enjoyed reading from all my favorite authors (some I listed above) ❤

Can you read whilst hearing music?

Nope.

One pov or multiple pov’s?

I love a single POV n a book.

Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days?

Well, it mostly depends on the book and how much I am immersed in it, but generally, I am a very fast reader and I love finishing a book in one sitting, for me that means that the book was beyond amazing.

Reading

One book you read because of the cover

I’ve read a few books due to their covers 😉 Most recent was The Hawkman: A Fairy Tale of the Great War by Jane Rosenberg LaForge and it turned out great.

Wow, that was a bit long tag 😀 But I loved doing it. If you are a bookdragon like myself and would love to try on this tag, consider yourself tagged! If you do take on this tag, don’t forget to link your post to me so that I could read your amazing answers ❤

As always, thank you so much for reading ❤

Review
3 Stars

There was (and still is) great hype over this book and I truly wanted to love it more.

At first, I will say that I really loved the author’s take on creating your own life and not settle just to feel comfortable. I love the practical side of this book and how the author explains things in simple but really helpful ways.

This could be a wonderful guide to a someone who wants to dive into a creative career or just being more creative in life. If you want to start blogging, writing or doing anything that is creative, this book will inspire you and give you some great pointers on how to start your journey with a creative career and I loved that the author did give a lot of information on the business side of your creative life.

After a few chapters, I started to get frustrated and even a little bit annoyed. I found myself disagreeing with the author, her approach was too structured and I think it didn’t suit my views. By the end, the subject repeated over and over and for me, it was too much.

If you are a beginner or you want to start a creative career, this book will definitely help you and in it, you will find great advice to get you started on your creative journey.

Review
5 Stars

Omg… NOOOOO… Omg.

I will need to keep this review very short as every time I try to put a little more details, I give up spoilers, lol, and because my reviews are spoilers free – I must keep it sweet but short.

I just finished reading Graevale, the fourth book in The Medoran Chronicles and wow… Lynette Noni truly gets better with each book she writes, omg. I am struggling to put words together to form any sort of normal sentences, as my brain is in complete moosh right now 😀

Things get darker fast in this book, from the plot, the characters, and the amazing adventures the group takes… (I wish this series would never end) ❤

This book continues from the ending of the third book and from the start we go with Alex o other lands that only makes things harder for her to overcome Aven. Every book in this series is building up to the epic finale and it hurts that we are now closer to the end.

From the start, you can feel the tension and the slow but awesome build-up to the final battle. The places and other races we encounter and to the gang itself, trying to get stronger in their abilities and the darkness truly looming over Alex and Medora.

Alex is preparing for war by going around the lands, trying to convince them of the importance of joining this war, but Alex realized that this is not an easy task. Alex keeps training for the upcoming battle and traveling to the other lands of Medora, and I loved how she gots even stronger and more clam of what is needed to be done. Even the other characters are so well thought of and so well developed, that made Alex her group stronger than ever.

At the end I was left in tears holding my tablet tight for comfort, I was a wreck… I need the next book, NOW!

This is by far my favorite book in this series.

Instantly his world is plagued with violence, treachery, and manipulation, revealing the hidden ugliness of his proud realm. And when his circumstances seem especially dire, he stumbles into an unexpected romance, one that opens him up to unimaginable dangers and darkness.

Review
4.5 Stars

Wow, this book has so many twists and turns, I loved it. Jenna Moreci did a wonderful job with this book ❤

The savior Champion is written in a third person from Tobias POV. Every year there’s a tournament where the winner gets to be the suitor for the Savior.

Tobias, enters the Savior’s Tournament with only one goal in mind, to save his family. In this book, there’s dangers, action, and romance. All make a wonderful and fast-paced story to read, but I will say that it is an adult fantasy book and so it has a lot of more adult content in it, so keep that in mind 🙂

I loved the characters in this book a lot and even though I saw some of the characters on the author’s Instagram teases, it still felt as though I knew them for the first time.

The characters in TSC were well developed and you good easily see them in my mind. I loved that even the strong characters had their flaws, which only made the story feel more real to me and the evil character is written masterfully – I love evil characters a lot, hehe 😀
The Savior and her sisters were written so well and Leila is an amazing addition to the story and is one of my favorite.

The world building here was extremely well thought of and it shows on paper (well in my case in the ebook, hehe). Tobias’s world, Thessen felt so real and even though it’s a very dangerous world to live in, it’s also a beautiful one.

As I said before, the pacing of this book is fast and the fight scenes (gorry as they are) are written well, there wasn’t a dull moment. This is not a short book and I still read it in just a few days 😀

This is a Fantasy Romance so… Of course, there will be a romance story here. I was happy to discover that the romance parts are written beautifully and the relationship was made to be of healthy adults and that made this book even a better one to read.

The only thing reason I gave the book, 4.5 stars and not 5 were two small things:

1. The names were a bit confusing to follow and in some parts of the story, I didn’t know which character is talking to who.

2. The Tournament is in a labyrinth, but it didn’t feel is a labyrinth but more of an arena. I just couldn’t picture it.

Final thoughts: If you like magic, romance, humor, and lots of action, all in an amazing package, this book is for you 🙂 I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Don’t forget to pre-order it now – You have a few hours until the release 😀

This is the first classic adaptation I’ve read and Jane Eyre is one of my favorite books. At first, I was a bit anxious about taking this book, but I really wanted to know how this great book full of life struggles, dark moments and love will be portraited in a manga… I am so happy I did take this book ❤

This was made brilliantly and the story of Jane Eyre shines beautifully here. The artwork shows the emotions of the story in an incredible way, making the reading even more powerful and emotional. We also get to see the Victorian era come to life in the clothes and the homes, all wonderfully drawn and they really made this small details in their art which made reading this adaptation, even more, fun. The illustrations are just so charming and captivating and it captures the essence of all the characters brilliantly.

Overall, I was truly impressed with this adaptation and I can’t wait to read more of my favorite classic adaptions ❤

Life Update & April’s Goals

Hello everyone, I hope you are all having a great Sunday and a wonderful weekend<3

I really thought it is time to fill you in on what’s been going on here at the Balli Family (it was hectic, lol).

Life has been too challenging and stressful this past two months. Almost not a day had gone by without something stressful umping at us and it took its toll on me, so I took a break from blogging, writing, editing and a bit from social media.

Stressed, Coffee n' Notes

I felt I was stretched out too thin and I couldn’t find a single moment to myself where I could sit down and write or even just journal and when I finally did have a bit of time, I was already too exhausted to write.

I’ve also taken on a lot of book reviews which I am so far behind now, but I started to get back on the horse and write those reviews 😀 After I will finish with most of these reviews, I will take on just a 1 or 2 a month and not more.

My mom is doing good, there are days that she feels great and there are days that she sleeps a lot, but overall there’s a huge improvement ❤ My husband’s brother is slowly getting better as well, after a few months of struggling.

I really hope that things might get slower this April so I will be able to focus on my goals and my own health issues that I neglected over the past few months.

My goals for this month are simple

Post 6 book reviews this month 😀 Overall blog posts: 8

Organize and keep my home clean (daily and weekly).

Finish organizing my mom’s papers.

Organize my writing files on my laptop (it’s in chaos right now) and upload them to the cloud.

Yep, these are my goals for this month. It’s still a lot overall I think not too much 😉

Goodbye, Coffee n' Notes

As always, thank you so much for reading ❤
