6 Easy Steps to Motivate Yourself

Motivation is something that I had to work hard to get, it never was an easy task for me, from getting up in the morning to working hard on my personal goals, I always seem to find my way out of things, hehe. But as I grew older and became a bit smarter I realized that there are things I will never be good at, but at most things, I can work hard and use the resources I have around me in order to succeed.

As we are closing in on another year, I worked harder on some things and I found a few easy ways that did help me a lot to get myself motivated and push myself. So I thought as we come closer and closer to the new year, we all could use better skills on how to motivate ourselves to do all the things that we want to do and need to do.

So let’s start πŸ˜‰

1. Find your emotions behind that task

We all heard this many times before, you need to know your why and understand the emotion behind your wants. I heard this many times as well but I never truly give it a deeper thought. I thought I know my whys but I never truly knew it.

What really helped me understand my why, and understand the emotions behind the things I want to do, was so simple that I don’t know why I never used this tool to motivate myself harder. I took a few minutes (no more than 5-10 minutes) and wrote down why I truly want to publish my book or to do any of things I want to accomplish and after I have all the reasons of why I look at each of them and try to feel the emotions after I achieve these things, but truly trying hard to feel all the emotions after achieving my goals.

This is a simple tool but it helps your brain to understand why are you doing what you doing and by connecting your emotions to your tasks and goals, you are much more likely to show up for them and work harder on them.

2. Break your task to smaller bites

Looking at a huge task is always daunting and scary, but breaking that big goal or task into much smaller bites, helps us feel much more accomplish once we achieve that smaller goal or task and that way we are more likely to continue on and finish that huge goal or task.

For example: If you want to write a book – break it down to chapters – a page – a paragraph – continue to break it down to whatever small task you know you can easily achieve, even in your busiest of days or when you just not feeling it.

3. Inspire yourself

Look at other creators and absorb their inspiration, lol, now I know it sounds a bit weird, but everyone and everything can inspire you. so look at a motivating speaking on youtube, or just a write on youtube (or at other creators), listen to a podcast or read a book, go for a walk. Try and find something in your surroundings that will inspire you and give you the right push you need. There are a lot of things right now in your immediate surroundings that I am sure can inspire you and motivate you, you just need to ask for it and look around to find it.

4. Make it fun

If the task is too daunting and too scary, even after you tried everything else I suggest you try and make it a bit fun.

For example: When I do the dish (And I hate every moment of it, lol), I always put on my headphones and blast upbeat music and I literally dance next to sink while I wash the dishes, hehe… I know… I know… I’m weird. But for me, it helps, lol, a lot.

Try and do something you love while doing something you hate or not looking for so much, or just scared to start.

5. Schedule your tasks and goals

Understanding the why, the emotions, after we broke things down to small bites, inspired ourselves and even made things more fun, we still need to schedule it all in our busy lives and put all of our tasks and goal into a calendar or planner and give everything a deadline, a date that you think you will be done with that task or goal.

Be real with yourself, and know that you can’t really finish writing your entire book in a week, lol, well maybe you can but I know I can’t πŸ˜€ So try to think ahead a see with everything that is going on in your life right now and that might be in your life how will you fit your writing?

Look at things as how they truly are and not how you wish it to be on an ideal day, week or month. For me, this was a big lesson I learned this year. I learned that in order to truly make good progress, I need to know how long it will take me with all that is going on or that can be and schedule them all.

6. Use a timer

I am a strong believer in using a timer for a few years now. This by far the best immediate productivity tool I use. I set my timer for 5 minutes and go around an area in my house picking things up and organizing or washing the dishes. I set the timer for 20-30 minutes for a writing session and I use my timer for many more things in my daily routine.

If you want to see how much a minute is truly is, just set a timer and look at how long it takes for the time to pass. so imagine how much time is 5 minutes or 20. You can achieve more when you know that the time is running out, haha. A timer shows you the passing time and that is a very powerful tool, so try it and let me know how it goes πŸ˜‰

What motivates you to do things you don’t really want to do, or just scared to do?

Quarterly Goals

Goals

Hello my to all my wonderful readers, I hope you are all having a great Saturday ❀

Quarterly Goals, is a new feature that I will be posting once in every three months. I saw this feature at a YouTuber Author, Jenna Moreci. I loved it so much, so I thought it would be a great idea to try it out.

So far, it’s amazing.

I’ve already accomplished a few of my goals and I just started writing these goals. Usually, I write my monthly goals and even weekly/daily goals and with all that is going on in my life right now, I always feel overwhelmed and stressed.

Making these goals makes me feel that I have more control of the chaos around me and be able to do the things I want without being too stressed out or guilt. I still use daily/weekly goals but as a broken down of these goals I have below πŸ™‚

So, this is how it works (as she said in her Vlog)… You need to write 10 to 20 goals and you need to accomplish at least half of those goals by the end of the quarter.

If I accomplish half or more, than it is “well done” for me πŸ˜€

If I fail, then it is “public failure” for me (Yay) 😦

Here are my Quarterly goals (Jan-Mar)

  1. Buy new boxes.
  2. Organize things in the boxes.
  3. Finish with the revising.
  4. Have a date night with hubby once a week (already doing this <3).
  5. Organize my Mom’s things.
  6. Organize writing room.
  7. Outline the new project.
  8. Write 150 pages.
  9. Find my F* lost book.
  10. Write at least 8 blog posts a month.
  11. Post more on my social media.
  12. Clean up my Twitter.
  13. Change Covers/Banners/Themes (for social media & blog).
  14. Clean & organize my blog.
  15. Eat healthier (2-3 veggies/fruits a day).
  16. Drink more water (1.5-3 liters a day).
  17. Walk more.
  18. Cook at least 3 healthy meals a week.
  19. Reconnect with friends IRL (so hard for me).
  20. Take some pictures of hubby and me and print them out.
  21. Buy new simple frames and put those picture in them.
  22. Follow blog/social media stats.
  23. Reach 700 followers on Twitter (would love some help in this) πŸ˜€
  24. Research some things for an awesome giveaway (started).

Okay, so I have a bit more than 20 goals, lol but some are smaller than others (so that’s okay). Wish me luck with all these goals and I do hope I will be able to accomplish at least half and not fail here in front of all you, lol.

I do like that in this goal setting approach, I still hold myself accountable but not without the massive stress I usually feel πŸ˜€

Are you a goal-setting kind of a person? If you are, how do you go about that?

As always, thank you so much for reading ❀

Mini Update

MiniUpdate

Hey everyone,

Sorry for the long absence (again).

I was still feeling ill and my mom had to move to a new home. We had to search fast for a new and better home for her and finally, we found one.

It is close by so I can still visit her a lot and I hope that slowly she will love it there ❀

Even though this move was very emotional for her and physically challenging, I still think that this new place is a bit more suitable for her needs. Moving to a new place is always scary and it feels weird for both of us, but I think she is ready for a new start and maybe she will be able to feel as this is her new home.

What about me?

Well… I still have this sore throat going on (yep, still), maybe it’s just due to the cold weather (I really don’t know, nor the doctor knows, lol). I feel tired but I know that things will come down (they had to, right?).

Things I have done:

My revision is all done ((Happy Dance)).

I’m is still at the beginning with my editing, but I did start ((so proud)), lol.

I am almost done with the review for the book I just finished reading for Heena πŸ™‚

Decluttered my computer (a bit) and mostly my closets.

Other than that everything goes on the back burner because my mom has a lot of doctors appointments this month, due to a surgery she is about to undergo, so… there are many things to plan and do.

However, I have already scheduled a few posted that will be posted this week and next week and even 2 new + old series that will come by the end of the month (Oh yeah.. Feeling very productive, lol) πŸ˜€

Btw, if you ever want to reach me just to talk or ask me something, I downloaded most of my social media accounts to my phone so I could be more connected with you all ❀ I missed you all so much ❀

I have tons of blog posts reading, lol, to do on the weekend and I can’t wait to see what I’ve missed πŸ˜€

I hope you all having a nice day and I will see you on Friday πŸ˜€

As always, thank you so much for reading ❀
