The Reading Habits Tag

typewriter

I have been nominated to do this great tag by Zach Chopchinski. If you don’t know who Zack is, go visit his site and while you’re there don’t forget to check out his book 😀

The Rules:

The rules are simple, answer a bunch of questions about your reading habits and then nominate a bunch of people to do the same. Don’t forget to tag the person who nominated you!

OK! And now for the questions:

You have 20,000 books on your TBR. How in the world do you decide what to read next?

I love this question. I usually go for the next book from my already loved authors, but I also love to try the some of the new books that people liked (4-5 stars) on Goodreads. My TBR list is ever growing and it is getting very hard to choose and even though I am a fast reader (when I can sit down and read) I choose 2 books from my favorite authors and I choose 2 books that people recommended me. I will say that it also depends on my mood at that time and that is why I mostly have about 5-6 books on my ‘Currently Reading’ list.

You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you quit or commit?

Wow, this is a hard one. I will say that if I read a book review, I will try to read the book till the end (I will try a few times as well), but if it’s a book I read for myself I will just leave it. I may try to come back to it later, but if the book is just not for me I will put it aside forever (there are books that I just can’t connect with).

The end of the year is coming and you’re so close yet so far away from your Goodreads challenge. Do you quit or commit?

I have a Goodreads challenge (I think, lol), but I am really not that into it. So I think it will not change much if I am closer to the end of the year. I read for fun and nothing more!

The covers of a series you love DO. NOT. MATCH. How do you cope?

This picture is from Deviantart (click to go to the site).

Okay, this is one of the things I hate the most. I love the unity of my covers and sizes of the books and I just can’t stand that it suddenly change in such a horrible way (sorry for that dramatic tone). This is one of my biggest pet peeves in books 😀

Everyone and their mother loves a book you really don’t like. Who do you bond with over shared feelings?

Well, I am not much a book talker 😀 But if I have a very strong feeling about a book I would share them with my hubby, my mom, and my friend.

You’re reading a book and you’re about to start crying in public. How do you deal?

I almost never read outside, lol. I am really obsessed with keeping my books neat, clean and perfect looking, lol. But if by chance I would be outside reading a book and I was about to cry, I think I will shed some tears and run to the bathroom or to my car 😀

A sequel to a book you loved just came out, but you’ve forgotten a lot from the prior novel. Will you re-read the book? Skip the sequel? Try to find a summary on Goodreads? Cry in frustration?

Okay, this is an easy one 😀 As I have a small (or big) memory problem I tend to start reading all the books in that series and then the new book ❤

You don’t want ANYONE borrowing your books. How do you politely tell people “nope” when they ask?

People in my life know this from the very moment they know me, Galit doesn’t share books 😀 I am not polite in this and I am not nice, lol.

You’ve picked up and put down five different books in the past month. How do you get over the reading slump?

I mostly read for fun, but sometimes there are many books coming out and I know I would love, but I am not in the right mood to read. What gets me out of that “reading slump” is going back to that one book that I loooved so much and who changed something in me. I re-read it slowly and enjoy it again, this opens the door for more books to be read.

I just recently had this reading slump (too much stress and was too busy), so I re-read The Only City Left by Andy Goldman.

There are so many new books coming out that you are dying to read! How many do you actually buy?

Sadly my financial situation does not let me buy all the books I want to buy, lol, so I just pick the one from my favorite authors or the one that was highly recommended.

After you’ve bought a new book you want to get to, how long do they sit on your shelf until you actually read them?

Mostly just a few days, but if I am too busy, it will sit there just a few weeks but no more than a month.

Alright, Now For The Nominees:

  1. I love that you are someone who doesn’t give much importance to the reading challenge, it’s better to read at your own pace. Being a book reviewer and not being a book talker is sort of fun. I don’t have many people to talk to about books and maybe that’s a good thing too. I get to live with the books a lot mroe then usual.

    Wonderful read as usual..

  3. Awesome tag! I loved reading your answers. What book to read totally depends on the mood I am in and I thought I was the only one dealing with that. Glad to know it’s just not me. Hehe. And I agree, some books you just can’t connect with however much you may try.
