It’s Wednesday and I hope that you are all having a nice day and your week is going as planed and even better 😉
Okay let’s start, as I promised this to be short as can be 😀
For this week’s of Behind The Writer I will still talk about the things that motivates me to write when there are a lot of stuff on my plate and things just going crazy, lol.
This little tip of you wanna call it that way is a bit out there and not so sweet and nice (I am sorry). Well… I am not super sorry, because we are all people and sometimes what motivates us can be not so nice things 😀
Even though this is not that of nice thing to do, I do want to share with you what helps me and this sometimes helps, especially when I am in a slump.
I take a book, read an article that in my own opinion is just not so good. I know…it’s a bit, you know… but it helps me to say to myself, “Hey… I can do this and I can do this better.” 😀
Now as I said, I know that this little tip is a bit out there, but I have read in a few places of authors that actually do this when they are in a slump and it helps them as well, just as much as it helps me (every time btw).
Have you heard of this little tip before? What are your thoughts on this? Can’t wait to read your thoughts on this.
I recently had a conversation with a fellow writer in JuNo (exactly on the same lines) and even I do this!
It might sound horrible but that’s the best way to feel horrible. (BTW I also do this when, once in a while, I feel less pretty! lol!)
Anything to feel better and carry on positively! 🙂

I hadn’t heard of this as a writing tip before, but I can see how it would work. I’ve come across things before and had those same thoughts. This could be a good motivational boost and a bit of encouragment. 🙂

I haven’t heard this tip before, but I think it’s a good idea. I often read books, or articles, and think, I can do so much better than this. I even rewrite some fo them in me head as I’m reading, so yes, this makes sense. Good tip. Thanks. 🙂

I do this with everything. Not just writing.

I think it makes perfect sense.
I do something similar. I reread a story with a lot of flaws, but that I still enjoy anyway. It helps me remember that things don’t have to be perfect to be worth reading. I’m a perfectionist, so it’s the most helpful lesson to reinforce for me.

Yeah I know, I do the same. It helps a lot with not being perfect in my writing and just enjoy my writing 🙂 ❤

I actually DO this. Like, all the time. The trouble with reading EVERYTHING that’s put in front of you, you read quite a few duds. It does sorta make you feel better to think ‘I could do that so much better’! Course, that’s just me haha

LOL Yeah… I guess you are right 🙂 I do read a lot – a lot of books.

I can see how it could motivate you to do better, Galit, so if it works for you, that’s great. If your confidence in your own writing is down, whatever you do to boost it up has got to be good. 🙂

Thank you so much Millie 🙂 I feel a bit bad about doing it, but I do that rarely so I think it’s ok and it means that I am more inspired by the great books I read rather than the “bad ones” 🙂

No need to feel bad at all. We all get inspiration in different ways. Your method works for you, so go with it! 🙂

I think it is important to read writing (whether books or articles) that is not that good. It helps teach writers what not to do. Also, like you said, it can be a great confidence booster!

I don’t think that’s bad at all. We all have our preferences and strive to be better. Great idea. 🙂
