Behind The Writer

It’s Wednesday and at Coffee n’ Notes it’s time for ‘Behind The Writer’ 🙂 I hope you are all having a wonderful Wednesday and a great week.

Before I will start with the post, I just wanted to say that I am sorry I was away for a bit and haven’t answered your lovely comments and visited your wonderful blogs. Too much is going on right now (JunoWriMo, Other writing, Family, Home…).

so I am a bit overwhelmed, but I hope things will get easier – soon 🙂

So… Back to the post, lol. Btw, If you missed my first two posts in this series, you can find them Here and Here.

So what motivates me to continue writing, if I get stuck?

Well… I usually get a bit stuck in the middle of the story (I write very fast until then, so I think I get a bit burned out) and then I need to be more motivated to write. Mostly because I start to procrastinate a lot (a lot!) and I start doing everything on my lists, but writing 😉

So what motivates me here are some little mind trick, lol, crazy I know (but hey, that works). I say to myself that if I write for a minute or two – on the clock, about a single word I choose or use this site, then… I am done!

In most cases that one word makes a spark and I start writing for a few more minutes about that word and then I have enough push and motivation and I continue on working on my story (usually for a few hours).

Now if that didn’t help I set my alarm for an hour later and until then I do what I need or want. When the alarm starts ringing, I start again 😀 Or do some free writing to get my mind clearer.

Day like these, when I have too much on my plate and writing is just a job, I do little tricks like these and it brings back the excitement and motivation for the writing and my story ❤

Well, that is all for this Wednesday, I managed to keep this short-ish, yey.

As always, thank you so much for reading ❤

  1. Great tips on beating the procrastination. I think the idea of writing just for a minute or two and then being done, using that trick to ignite a spark, is a good idea. I might try that. Good luck with JuNoWriMo and don’t worry about being behind with blogs/comments, I’m bogged own as well.

I’ve started using Hemingway by the way, and It really is useful. I can see the improvements when I correct the flaws it points out. thanks again for linking to it. 🙂

  2. I now have the image of you belting away at your laptop until you’re fit to drop! That’s when you need the extra coffee your blog title boasts about. Procrastinating is most writers constant companion at times and you just have to be firm and chase it off with with a broomstick or something! Great post, Galit. 🙂
