New month… New Goals

Officejpg

Before I will start with my February Goals, I wanted to know if you saw my new blog header and the new tagline I wrote underneath the blog title. It is very similar to the one I had before, but a bit cleaner. If you cannot remember the one I had before, I am linking it here and I would love to know your thoughts about the new header vs. the old. Thank you ❤

I have a few goals for this short (too short) month

Home

I get too distracted and I end up not doing what I want (or what is needed). My goal for this month is that after my writing session and after I eat something yummy for lunch, I will start with cleaning the house and starting making dinner for at least 1 hour. This way I will still do something, but not a lot.

Reading

I want to read at least 1 book this month. I don’t know if I will be able to buy a new book, but I will continue with Terry Pratchett’s books, I have a lot I haven’t read yet, and find a few on sale or free books I can read.

Coffee n’ Notes

I really want to push myself a bit harder here as well and try to post a bit more.

I thought of doing a Friday Musing (I will post something that really inspired me that week or that day) and try to post a bit more throughout the week 😉

I want to organize my blog a bit better. I don’t think I will change my theme, yet. I love it too much to change it, but I do want to reorganize it so it will look better.

Time

As always, time is a bit slippery for me, lol, so I want to “grab time by the horns” and manage my time better.

I have a huge block of time for writing which is about 4-5 hours. The rest of the time isn’t set properly, so I get distracted when people want my attention and before I know it hubby is home and I no longer have the energy to do things around the house, as all I want is to chill out and relax or play GW2 or just watch T.V.

Writing

After I wrote and deleted tons of words (did it twice, lol) I am a bit behind on my word count for this month, but not by a lot. I missed a few writing days (weekend and migraines) so I pushed myself harder these last few days.

By the end of January I did try to be a bit more organized with my writing and so I have downloaded the free trial of Scrivener, just so I can learn how to use it and see if I can use it daily. With Scrivener, I already see more improvement in my beats organization, which is a great start for loving this software.

If you don’t know what are beats, beats are from saving the cat by Black Snyder. I use beats a lot in my outlining and writing, as with it I see my whole plot better and I don’t get stuck.

  • A side story… Yesterday was a slow writing day. I needed to write a scene with that basic fear in it. Now I have been in situations where I felt fear, But it was different. Anyway, I couldn’t write it as well as I wanted. My friend always says to Summon what you want and it will come. At that moment when I thought of what she said a huge black fly entered the room and circled around me. I hate bugs (a lot!) and it was one of those flies that can bite or sting you, so I was really scared. I know it sounds silly to most people, but hey, it worked, lol. I ran out of the room, grabbed my bug-spray and I sprayed him, which made my entire room smell. I opened the window and he vanished. I think I was high on adrenaline (which is impossible with my illness, lol) 😀 but it worked. When I returned to my new desk, I wrote about 2K words in 40 minutes (for me it’s very fast).

I want to push a bit harder and write 5-7K each day and I will not be editing the other book alongside my writing. I learned that it is just too hard for me and my writing suffers because of it. So no editing!

March is getting close and I am not near to the end as I wished to be, so I must push harder and not get distracted.

That is all for now, sorry for the long post. I hope It wasn’t too much.

Thank you so much for reading ❤

  1. Love the new header. It is cleaner and more concise.

I like the idea of monthly goals. I need to set weekly and daily goals as well. I think it’s an attention thing. I just told my sister today when she complained she did things she didn’t plan but got a lot done that when I do that I add those things to my To Do List so I can cross them off. Just because I got off track doesn’t mean I didn’t do anything.

I’m struggling with printer issues that I know are holding me back on my writing. My DIL got it working but it still won’t print anything I’m working on, just the new ink sample. Did I mention that I hate Windows 8.1? Ever since I got the updates my printer won’t work.

    1. Daily and weekly goals are very important to me as well, and I think that you are so right. Even if I get off track, I still put them on my to-dos, as well.
I currantly don’t have a printer, well I do but it’s not working well or at all, but don’t let it stop you from working on your writing. Just don’t print at the moment, at least not until you are done. I plan on buying a new printer soon, but due to budge issue I don’t know when.
Omg, I thought windows 8 will be so great… 😦 I am still working on 7.
I do hope you will be able to print soon and this issue will be fix for good 🙂

  2. ❤️ your new tag line. I noticed it before I read this post-I’d say it’s working! 🙂
I cannot wait to read what ever you write!
Do you have any ideas as to which book you would like to read this month?
What are a few titles you like? Or what genre of books are you most interested in?
I am working on my laundry goal. I tend to let the laundry pile up so I decided that I will do it more than once a week. Well, I haven’t been too successful. LOL
Once a week always seems good until I look at the pile in front of the washer!
I also have to organize all of my books and decide which ones I would like to keep and which ones I would like to get rid of. Not easy.
Last but not least I need to go through all of my beauty products and get rid of the stuff I just do not use that’s cluttering everything up.
Looks like we all have some small goals we have to get through this month.
Have a good one & see you soon!
    Xoxo

    1. Thank you so much for noticing it ❤ Laundry always being pushed to once a week at our place (rarely 2 times a week), lol, I keep all my book (I am a book hoarder, lol) and makeup… well sadly I don’t have much makeup so that’s stays as well 😀
I love that I have big and small goals, it keeps me busy and things do inspire me for new projects around the house, which is always fun for me ❤
Book… wow, that is such a big question, lol, but I will try to answer it 🙂
I don’t think I will be able to buy books this month (budget), so I will read book I have (hubby’s) like Terry Pretchette and I think the next book of disc world is Guards! Guards! I can’t wait to start this book, as I heard so many great things about it.
Genre wise, I love, love, love… Fantasy, YA, then contemporary, Dystopian and Science fiction (very new to that). I am a reader of that is good I think ❤
      A few Titles I loved:
Pride and Prejudice (old but love it).
      1. Lord of The Rings ❤ ❤ ❤
      2. Harry Potter 😀
      3. The Hunger Games.
      4. A Game of Thrones
      5. Shaman’s Crossing (by Robin Hobb).
      6. The Lost Hero ❤
      7. The Magic Thief 😀
      8. City of Bones.
      9. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children
      10. Ready Player One ❤

Sorry for the long comment, lol.

  3. I like the new header better — as it’s simpler. Call me a simple guy, I guess 🙂 Best wishes on your goals this month! And that was a fun story about the black fly giving you inspiration for writing 🙂

    1. Thank you so much hun for lovely comment ❤
I am so with you on the reading issue, lol, I am so behind on my reading list and the time just slips away so fast. I am sure we can take at least one book and read it, maybe… 😉

      1. Let’s make it BOTH our February goals!!! I’ve just started Self Printed by Catherine Ryan Howard and I have to say it’s amazing… if self publishing is something you’re considering you must read this book. Like I say I’m just getting into it but she is such a great writer, hoping to finish it before the end of Feb 🙂 X

        1. Sound like a great book, I added to my Goodreads (want to read). So far I researching them both (self-publishing and traditional). I know that with self-publishing you need a lot of money (which sadly I don’t have, lol) So I will have to see as I go on with my journey. But first – Finish writing!

            1. How sweet and so true 😀
Thank you so much… It’s going well. I am a bit behind on my word count for this week but not by much. Planning on doing a 7 hour writing (only writing) tomorrow morning, hope it will go well 🙂

          1. It’s rewarding in the sense that the first step of completing a novel is accomplished. Now, it’s all about building relationships with readers and other writers. Marketing is a lot harder than it looks, lol.

  4. Good luck with your goals! I think it’s great that you are trying to find a good balance between your writing and other areas of your life. And I so understand the not being able to write something while editing something else struggle. I’m going through it (STILL), so I’m adjusting the timeline for starting my next manuscript and trying to get the revisions on this first one done by Feb. 15th. So much to do and such a short month!

  5. I like the new tagline. It flows better. Also, thanks for reminding me that I need to set some goals for myself this month. lol I have trouble with managing time too. I usually end up on YouTube watching videos about Japan or watching some kind of Anime. Which leads to day dreaming. And that leads to getting nothing accomplished. HAHA!

  6. Smile. Write. Read. Repeat.

    I. LOVE. IT.

Also – I really like reading everyone’s goal posts – really makes me want to take the time and be more nitty gritty with my goals, post them on my blog and really force myself to examine them. Thanks for the inspiration!

Good luck with your goals and watch out for those flies!

    1. Thank you so much ❤ I wanted a header that is more close to my heart and looks cleaner 🙂
How sweet thank you, glad it inspired you. I love posts about goals and list and listing goals, lol
Omg, that fly was scary, lol.

  7. Very nice goals! I can relate to the house cleaning one lol. I feel like I have no energy today to do anything but I must 😛 Just don’t be too hard on yourself if you don’t reach your goals. This post has inspired me to write up some of my own personal goals for the month. 🙂 ❤

    1. That is so cool it inspired you hun ❤ Thank you so much for being so sweet. I will be hard on myself, I just want to try a bit harder, but to a limit 😀 There are some days where I will not be able to the things I want and I know that (after being with Addison’s for over 12 years).

      1. You’re so welcome ❤ Yeah it’s okay that you can’t do things some days. I have those days too. I am having a really hard time myself trying to get motivated today with this fatigue I am feeling. Sometimes I just set some goals just for the day that I am in lol. Like today I must wash bathroom towels and do the dishes. 😛

          1. Yeah actually getting up and moving has helped to wake me up a bit. I got the dishwasher and the washer going. Yay me! lol. Though my apartment needs so much more work than just that. I know I can only do a little at a time. Good luck to you with your writing! I bet you’re really enjoying your new space! 🙂

            1. That is a great start of the day hun 🙂 starting out with small tasks helps a lot to get myself moving. Omg… I can’t even put in words of how much I love my little space (sooo much).
