#TakeBackWhatsYours CAMPAIGN

20150119_183400

Hello to all my wonderful readers, I was invited by the lovely Katie from Plus+ Beauty to join this campaign and I can’t be any happier to do a tag as important as this.

The #TakeBackWhatsYours Campaign was originally started by Chloe from www.chloesconcept.blogspot.uk.com, as a way to use our position as bloggers to inspire other people to make a positive change for good! Below is an excerpt from Chloe’s blog, for more details or for anything else you want to know, click HERE for Chloe’s page.

“..Many make New Year resolutions, so why not influence people to make their resolution to take back what once belonged to them… maybe their confidence, maybe their control or even their happiness due to whatever situation has made them lack that ability.

This is a lifelong commitment, if you want to change the way you feel about yourself, or you want to act upon the message of this campaign and ‘Take Back What’s Yours‘, when better to do that than the start of a new year… This is not one of those “New Year, New Me” unrealistic resolutions. When I say “New Year, New You”, I genuinely mean it.”

If you would like to get involved, all you have to do is this:

  • Write a blog post talking about this campaign, the message it contains and why are you taking part.
  • What “Take Back What’s Yours” New Year’s Resolution you are going to set yourself.
  • Tag 10 bloggers to take part.
  • Let Chloe know if you’re taking part by using the hashtag on Twitter #TakeBackWhatsYours, Also tag either @ChloesConcept or @TBWYCampaign so she can retweet!!
  • If you can include a photo of yourself with a handmade poster (doesn’t have to be artistic!) with the words:

“TAKE BACK WHAT’S YOURS” –
MAKE YOUR NEW YEARS RESOLUTION TO TAKE BACK WHAT BELONGS TO YOU. #TakeBackWhatsYours
In 2015, I’m taking back: *i.e., “my confidence”

What I’m Taking Back

Many of you that follow me know that I have some health issues that I struggle with. At the age of 29 I was diagnosed with Primary Addison’s Disease and Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, which are both autoimmune diseases, and a few more problems all at the same year… The joy 😉

The one thing you may not know is that I have struggled (most of my life) with an Eating Disorder – Anorexia Nervosa. When I was 16 I lost 25 kilos (= 55lbs), in less then 2 months and I was 1.65m. I was 39kilos and then I went down to 35kilos. That’s when my parents started to help me. This is something that is very hard for me to share with the world but it’s such an important tag, so I thought… This is the time.

All my illnesses and my eating disorder made my life hell and I have to admit it was hard not to relapse. Now I am a bit overweight as my anxiety and stress went up to the roof this past year and half and I combined my eating with stress, which was a very bad idea 😀

Now I am slowly trying to take back my body and my self-acceptance and as I try to be more healthy and lose weight, I try extremely hard not to go to my “safe place” but to work hard on myself and be healthier physically and mentally.

Starting this blog has been one of the best things that has ever happened to me (besides my hubby of course). It made me open up more and see things more clearly. I have met many wonderful and beautiful people from different parts of the world and it showed me that this is the path for me. I love being able to share my passion with others more than I even thought before I started this blog and I love to connect with my readers so much.

I need to take back my body and self-acceptance.

I truly believe that if you love yourself with all your “faults” you can do so much more with your life. Nothing is impossible and that is what I am working on this year. Self-acceptance for me is not only physical (I accept myself as I look and feel), but also of who I am.

I am a writer. And I need to stop letting people take this away from me.

  1. I think this was a really brave post. Eating disorders are hell. You did well to recover. I take my hat off to you, I really do.

I think this campaign is brilliant. I will be taking part in my own way, as what I want to take back is personal, and I don’t feel brave enough at the moment to share it with the wide world. One day, maybe, I hope I am.

    1. Awww how sweet of you to say, thank you so much ❤ Sharing is nice, but the work you do on your own is the most important, so don’t feel for one sec that you are doing something wrong by keeping it personal. You do what you need, with hope that you can work on what you need… But, if you ever need to talk… feel free to email me or write to me here 😀

  2. Thanks for sharing this Galit. I know how difficult it can be to share something so personal and put it out there for everyone to see. You’re so right in saying if we accept ourselves with our ‘faults’ we can accomplish much more. Best wishes and keep going. 🙂

  3. I’m so glad you took part in this campaign! Your post is so brave, thank you for sharing with us. I can completely relate to being stressed and then doing the whole stress eating, I do that too. ((hugs)) I think putting this all out there you’ll be able to look back on this anytime to give yourself a good remind and really put your mind to what you want to change. You deserve so much! Great post! ❤

  4. This is such an amazing post and campaign! I would be honored to do it! I believe imperfections are what makes a person beautiful. If we were all perfect, there would be nothing interesting in the world! You are an incredible and strong person! It does take a lot of courage to share what you did about your eating disorder. After reading a few of these posts, I truly think they are more common than one would think, and that is alarming and sends quite the message. I am looking forward to this post, and best of luck to you taking back what’s yours!!

  5. Thank you so much for taking part of this campaign! It takes a lot of strength and courage to open up with what we have going on in our lives. I think your post was so wonderful! Galit, you are truly beautiful on the inside as well as the outside, always remember that! I can definitely relate to the emotional eating, it’s one of my downfalls as well. Wanting to be healthy is a great thing! I know I could definitely work on that myself too. I wish only the best for you this year! I hope this year is a wonderful one for you and you reach all of your goals! You will always have me as a friend if you ever need someone to talk to. I am so glad to have met you and hope to get to know you even more! Much love to you! xxoo ❤

        1. Yeah it’s a bit overwhelming but in a good way, a very good way. I love reading the comments, people are truely so kind and supportive. It fell my heart with joy and love to know that people care so much and they have so much love in them. It’s something I’m not used to see and so wonderful ❤

  6. This really is such a wonderful campaign! I think by opening up to others and letting other people know that they aren’t alone in their struggles can really help others to move on and better themselves no matter how difficult their obstacles may be.
I had similar struggles with my self-image and I am sure I came quite close to being anorexic. I really shouldn’t say ‘had’ because I suppose it’s something you never really stop working on. You just better yourself continually. That’s what I try to do, at least. For that reason, I know how easy it would be to fall back into the routine of not looking after yourself and I think it’s so amazing that you haven’t relapsed. It takes so much will-power!
I know how taxing it is on the body when it is fighting against itself and attacking what wouldn’t normally be attacked. It makes you feel incredibly drained.
I think these are such wonderful things which you are taking back, Galit!
I wish you every bit of luck and I have no doubt you will be able to do it. When we start feeling even that little bit better it’s the perfect motivation to maintain that and if you ever need a bit of encouragement, I will be here. 😀
Thank you so much for the tag. I adore this campaign. I have already done one, however. You can read it here, if you would like to: https://nadineblewett.wordpress.com/2015/01/08/takebackwhatsyours-campaign/
